And Irwin earned his commission from The Who - after playing "Glow Girl", I bought that from iTunes, and a bunch of other stuff from The Who Sell Out Super edition - "Faith in Something Bigger", interesting covers of "The Last Time"/"Under My Thumb" to support Mick and Keith after their arrest, various demos! No disrespect to Who's Next (besides the fact that it's been overplayed, which isn't its fault), but I like the idea of reframing Tommy as the pinnacle of all their weird little operettas rather than as their departure into arena rock.

Pete had been reading in the work of a kind of mystical Pakistani musicologist, and this had led him to the idea that some magical mystical thing would happen to audience, band, and music under certain conditions during a live performance. Tried it some, didn't work out as he hoped/expected, and he gave up. There was a plotline to Lifehouse -- "Behind Blue Eyes" (for ex.) was the villain's song... Yes, look into the Lifehouse project.

I'm also concerned about harming my hearing with earbuds etc. When Walkmans first came out maybe 30 years ago, I used one during commutes and noticed my hearing had gotten worse after a couple of years. I want to be able to hear things for the duration of this mortal state, music or whatever. Mary Ellen's hearing is not great, for unknown reasons, and I see what a pain hearing aids are, even expensive ones.
