Favoriting Acid Jazz Hands with Bronwyn Bishop: Playlist from June 23, 2023 Favoriting

Bronwyn Bishop's avatar View Bronwyn Bishop's profile Favoriting

Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

Darn, sorry I missed that Roberta Alexander track. She has terrific recitals of Ives and others, all on Etcetera, a great label.

Listener Gregory:

Wonderful show, Ms. B. For most of it I was yelling at the speaker, "This is a great song! Why would you cut it?" Of course, there are many reasons to cut a good song, as you point out, but it's great that we can still hear these.
I'm still reeling at hearing From This Moment On and The Man I Love in this context. I mean, really.
