Hey there, Krys O!

I have to honest I've never known how to respond to howdy. Once in Western Canada someone said "howdy" to me and I responded "hey I'm good, how are you?". He then responded "That's not how you respond to howdy". I forgot to ask him what was the correct way to respond to howdy then. Anyway, that was my unnecessarily long and boring 'howdy' story.

We were forced to watch Hee Haw - and my 'forced', I mean it was on on the only teevee in the house every Saturday night and if the teevee's on, our little kid eyes were glued to it if we liked the show or not.

Aw, dang it. We watched Ed Sullivan, Lassie, Adam-12, Lawrence Welk and such as a family. Hee-Haw was something I came to on my own in the early 70s. Roy Clark's musicianship fascinated me. He was cute as a button too. My mother and I used to watch the Bobby Vinton show and laugh at him. :D I like Vinton's early music thought.

We’d watch Hee Haw before bath time. I just recently went to Nashville and visited the Country Music HoF. There was a section dedicated to Hee Haw. All the people’s clothing and instruments. Junior’s overalls, Grandpa Jone’s outfit, Buck Owen’s red white and blue guitar was close by too (he had his own section)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm

I was unaware of Buck's previous success when I was a kid. Roy had a hit in 1969 with Yesterday When I Was Young.

Mr. Oxford:

I am now remembering where else I have heard about Hee Haw. It was referenced in a bit by comedian Bill Hicks. Other than that, hadn't hear of it. Of course it's because I am quite young and not from the US. I have a strange love-hate relationship with country music but I am fascinated by the music and atleast some aspects of the culture (especially retro/vintage things). So Hee Haw does seem interesting to me. I tried watching The Marty Stuart Show once - it was not for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm

If I went to stay with my grandparents, we would be 'forced' to watch The Lawrence Welk Show. Not THAT was torturous, even for a tiny kid.
