The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

"...Cheryl E. Leonard builds and plays electroacoustic instruments made out of natural materials such as bones, driftwood, shells, seaweed, feathers, and stones. Jon Leidecker (aka 'Wobbly') responds to the sounds of her creations with synthesized animal voices driven by machine listening. The inaugural collaboration of these two veterans of the San Francisco Bay Area electronic music scene can be heard on the album Multiple Park, a collection of works assembled from both studio and outdoor performances, radio broadcasts and field recordings, as well as outright hallucinations — an album which evokes an abstract yet literal world that exists in the space between city life and utter wilderness."

Limerick bait. Why? No -- good -- reason.

Bill bought a fancy sampler,
Then his file pile was ample and ampler,
His editing thirst
Made his drives nearly burst
But the Audiobahn has no off-rampler.

I'm sure I mentioned this on the old show, but I actually saw Tom Ellard & company perform live at a local club here in central NJ and even got to meet the man after the show. Love his quirky sense of humor and his work. I once lived in a place where a large rat tried to get into the house by climbing up a 220V cable and chewing its way through it to get through the hole in the floor. It shrieked and made a lousy fuse for about 10 seconds. It was horrible.

I used to live above a restaurant (2 floors above). I had to put steel wool and caulk over any openings in the walls, and that took care of it. I caught three mice, and just threw them from my third floor window down to the restaurant below.

You think iyt's bad in your neck of the woods? Over on the western end of your country, in the farmlands, farmers have had to contend with an out-of-control mouse population. I remember seeing footage of one farmer proving to a news crew how bad his mouse problems were. He opened the door to a storage house and, before you knew it, A huge, endless swarm of mice came charging out of there like a storm! An incredible sight it was! Mind you, this was after the wildfires.

That happens every few years mate, in whatever part of Oz is having a good grain harvest. One Farmer had a homemade flame thrower, the video is out there. It's pretty horrific, & a wonder he didn't burn other shit down as incendiary mice flee in all directions.

Oh hi, Rich! Just popping in while I get ready for bed. You want movie recs? A few weeks ago I saw “Head,” The Monkees’s psych death-fantasy. Highly recommended. Also, “A Band Called ‘Death’” is a good doc. Have you seen “Gaslight”? Angela Lansbury’s screen debut. Spooky, campy, Gothic, awesome.
