Good evening, Julie!
Got word about Mary Quant's passing on the MSN News Feed. I knew she must've been someone significant to you, considering your affinity for that particular era.

hiya Androu! I don't know a lot of designers' names but yeah she was a big one.Queen of the miniskirt.

Well, the cover might certainly explain the meaning behind their hit song "Stuck In The Middle With You", since Rafferty was the main writer on it.

Oh well - you're among those honoring its legacy all the time I reckon.

Androu B.:

↳ Revolution Rabbit Nov63 @10:10
Perhaps a mere coincidence that the anniversary comes just four days before 4/20...
Avatar 10:17pm

everyone has a theory about 420 but there doesn't seem to be much to back any of it up

Well - Bicycle Day - when Hofmann decided to try it on purpose the 1st time - taking what seemed a reasonably small dose ...for nearly anything else in existence except LSD - & had to go home on his bike - is 4/19...
Avatar 10:17pm
Julie:

I didn't know about that. sounds like it'd make a fun short film
Avatar 10:19pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

↳ Julie @10:17
Is it unsubstantiated that 4/20 was police code for a pot bust ?
  10:20pm
Androu B.:

↳ Julie @10:17
I agree! A film about the life of the man that brought LSD to the world would make for a compelling movie!
Avatar 10:20pm

↳ Revolution Rabbit Nov63 @10:19
yes. There's no proof of that. The other theory is it was a time kids would meet after school.

Pretty sure that are one or two animation shorts on the Bicycle Day theme. But a film about Hofmann sounds a great idea. Not sure it arcs like a Drama... I'm good with documentaries, myself.

I am especially happy to be hearing Julie's EB at this moment. It has been a long weekend of travel to soccer events. As I prepare dinner I can listen in with total satisfaction.

One of the moms of a player on my daughter's team, 12 and 13YOs, recently relocated to NJ. I told her to check out WFMU in January. Today she said to me, "I have to thank you." She has become a huge fan.

It's surprisingly tepid for such seemingly risque subject matter as a penis transplant.
I should've bought the soundtrack album long ago, considering how much of it is not on other Kinks records (like that track played).

Music that came out before I was born: the entire ouevre of Georg Philip Telemann, perhaps the most prolific European composer. I've been tapping it for years, even while in high school, doing homework.

Grant Morrison wrote a Doom Patrol story where the MacGuffin was the bicycle Hofman rode home that day.

Bach/Handel, but somehow less sublime. I love Telemann precisely because his music is merely solid, rarely ecstatic.
