	2:50am Ike: I like serial TV a lot, but the writers need to be allowed to throw in some stand-alone episodes too, in case their story arc is stretched too thin. Also, the writers need a chance to practice on single episodes first and build up their skills. Story arcs are much harder to pull off, as the incompetence and incoherence of The X-Files’ and Lost’s “mythology” proved.

Also, the writers need a chance to practice on single episodes first and build up their skills. Story arcs are much harder to pull off, as the incompetence and incoherence of The X-Files’ and Lost’s “mythology” proved.
