If you read my essays at users.bestweb.net... , they'd spoil you, but you'd have a shot at "getting" the show in a rewatch. It'd help a lot if you also saw "Department S", "Hamlet", Frankenheimer and Hitchcock movies, read a lot of Arthur Conan Doyle, "Watchmen", "The Life and Loves of a She-Devil", and about the P2 conspiracy and Priory of Sion hoax...plus a lot of other background I don't recall at this moment.

If you want an example of the type of mistake I mean, certain props prominently placed in shots on "Lost" were impossible in their supposed time period. These are clues that the shot depicts a later time than it would seem to, and therefore that time travel into the past did not take place -- only that a character was knocked out and returned to consciousness among shills who were in on the hoax.

Looking over the Relative Pitch catalog and was surprised (not surprised) to refresh my memory on what they've done. Scrolling back chronologically, it looks like the first release of their that I found is Vinny Golia with Bobby Bradford from 2011, followed by Jemeel Moondoc duetting with Connie Crothers in 2012. Golia recently appeared at Phil Gelb's flat for a dinner show. Sorry I missed it. Phil is an amazing vegan chef and caterer. Dinner shows at his place are always rewarding.

Things no one asked about: I heard the Linda May Han Oh Quartet last night. Very good. What struck me was how creative and surprising her compositions are. I didn't know she did (wordless) vocals as well as play incredible bass. She also had a song dedicated to Rothko.

In point of fact.. the bassist could not fly.. wasn't allowed on the plane... the also lost their luggage and borrowed instruments. So we got two drummers and a saxophone player.

I have an acquaintance here who rents out his bass for the VT Jazz Center. Many bands use this rather than actually dragging an acoustic bass around. I did not know that.

For those of you who don't know Manhattan, this album was recorded at the Jazz Gallery, which is literally at Broadway and 27th. So "off-off" in this case must be "on."

My one try so far to go to the Jazz Gallery was during the Winter Jazz Festival, where I got to stand outside, and not go in (which led me to jump into my car and catch Linda May Oh at The City Winery)
