Belated happy 28th, Miss Mei!

Hello everyone in the chat!

Miss Mei might be running a little late this morn, but she says she'll be here shortly.

Happy Birthday Mei. Hope you have a wonderful b-day week my friend. Sending smiles your way!

I wish I could know who is playing the cover of "Train In Vain" right now on the robot DJ sounds.

That is Cecilia Noel doing "relax." I saw her band the Wild Clams live doing their latin jazz thang, and Toni Basil came up to join in on percussion, and Brian Setzer was in the audience. She's the the New Wave salsero.

Mr Fab:

This Gun Club cover was recorded by Kid Congo after he found out that Jeffrey Lee Pierce had died. So: not happy.

Miss Mei:

HI! I am sorry everyone! My sister's graduation ceremony took longer than I thought.
Avatar 2:16pm
Miss Mei:

By the way, the title is a lie. There's 29 artists. Oops.

Congratulations to your sister! Hope the graduation ceremony was great. Grad ceremonies are always memorable and joyful.

Was a bit hard to pay attention because I kept thinking about a girl I have a crush on but I'm very proud of her. She is on her way to getting IT work!

Mr Fab:

hey hey Miss Mei!

Wow, was that among Weird Al's first recordings?
Avatar 2:20pm
Miss Mei:

↳ Mr Fab @2:19
It's an early one, his earliest ones date back to '76.

I was listening to Dr. D pretty regularly around the time that Weird Al made his debut.
Congrats to your sis, Miss Mei!

↳ Song: "Hawaiian Punch" by "Mark Mothersbaugh"
DEVO's Mark Mothersbaugh composed this form a Hawaiian Punch commercial. At the very end, he included the hidden phrase "Sugar is bad for you" which I have never been able to make out in all the years I've enjoyed this audio.

Post Gabriel Genesis gets unjustly overlooked.

Oh wait. This is pre-Peter split Genesis. I still stand by my statement.

Just connected, interesting sounding about the Mark M Hawaiian Punch track, i would say that I will listen to it via the archive except that last week I noticed that none of your episodes have archive links and I know that I listened to some episodes in the past via the archive. Was this a purposeful change or something that happened recently and no one noticed.

That's quite strange and if there's any issues, it's nothing on my part as I don't handle tech stuff / am not good with tech stuff

↳ Song: "Dog Day Afternoon (Ft. Black Bart)" by "Three One...
The first and last verses on this are done by friends of mine. Good memories.

What are you not seeing, WR?
I've just looked at the last couple of episodes and they appear to have archives to me.
👻 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
WR:

Actually, I will amend my comment, there is the pop up player archive which works in a browser, but no MP3 archive link, which usually is only for the most recent 4 episodes and which are needed for playing in the Woo Moo app. So only the MP3 archive link missing.

↳ Song: "I Want To... (Instrumental)" by "Jules"
I find some Italo Disco to have good emotional vibes...if that makes any sense at all. And this one had that.
Avatar 2:55pm
Miss Mei:

↳ Mr. Oxford @2:54
That artist was one of my intros to Italo Disco.

I'm forwarding this to support. There are a few things which can break the MP3 archiving process. It's usually resolvable.
Avatar 2:59pm

That's neat. Italy Disco makes me nostalgic for a time I didn't even exist in...again, if that makes any sense at all.

↳ Song: "Break My Stride" by "Matthew Wilder"
This song is still quite popular here in Estonia. Along with "Billie Jean", it is played almost everyday on retro radio stations.
Avatar 3:26pm
Miss Mei:

↳ Mr. Oxford @3:25
Oh hey, I should play some of the Estonian music in my collection.
Avatar 3:28pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ Miss Mei @3:26
I wonder if you have crazy, strange outsider music from Estonia which even Estonians are not aware of.

Sven Grunberg and Velly Joonas, both released records in the 80s.

If you want to hear me butcher yet another language, I covered one of Velly's songs a few summers ago, called Ainus Kord.
Avatar 3:39pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ Miss Mei @3:34
There's no such thing as butchering a foreign language. Estonian is one of the most difficult European languages and the fact that you did a cover of an Estonian song is commendable. Play your version of "Ainus Kord" for us some time.
Avatar 3:43pm
Miss Mei:

↳ Song: "Pass Me By" by "Insane Clown Posse"
Confession time: For a brief period, as a teenager, I was really into Insane Clown Posse. Yes, I did get bullied for it. No, I don't regret that part of my life.
Avatar 3:55pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ Miss Mei @3:34
I found your cover on YouTube. You did great, honestly. Did you phonetically write down and learn the words?
Avatar 3:56pm
Miss Mei:

↳ Mr. Oxford @3:55
Someone on Reddit wrote the lyrics down for me and I re-wrote them phonetically.
Avatar 3:57pm
Mr. Oxford:

For info, I am actually Non-Estonian living in Estonia. I speak very little Estonian but I also sing in Estonian. I now know the language enough to learn the pronunciation just by reading it. But previously, I used to phonetically write down what I heard.
Avatar 3:58pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ Miss Mei @3:56
Oh nice, that's great! Well done! A lot of your pronunciation is quite accurate.

i know woefully little of Ms Jett's post-'80s output.
