Started to warm up in Bayonne once the sun came out. Very fortunate to be in a brand new building instead of my former decrepit 100yr old apt. Landlord sparingly refilled the oil tank and the ceramic space heaters he bought us wouldn't do much in this.

Ah, that sounds daunting. I live in a multi-family house that's over 100 years old and my furnace was fixed last October and I'm very grateful for that. I pay for my own heat and hot water. Also have a great programmable thermostat.

Hi Krys …. Really appreciated archive listening to your 1986 throwback re-creation !!!
I was an obsessive listener from approx 1981 - 1994. Before my move to VT.
SO fun to have re-connected with current WFMU & so heartening to find so Many of the 80s era DJ’s still contributing !

*** Wanted to thank you for your “chat” notation the other day re The Vanilla Bean / Frank B’s Birthday ! ***

It sent me to the moving reflections & memorial pages (& some of the innovative audio clips that have been archived) via the websites. All reminded me of just how wonderful Frank B’s broadcasting was & his legacy & vibes live on thru the WFMU soundwaves !

Thank you so much for your historical perspective and continuing to share your grooves !🤗♥️
Cheerio.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm

Terrific! Does it take long to learn how to play? There were movies that had characters who just couldn't help but play bridge badly much to everyone's chagrin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
Otis:

I'm not sure, I want to learn. I have fond memories of my grandparents and bridge nights with fold-up tables in the mobile park center they lived in (early 80s). That is a memory, along with the dish of hard candy on the coffee table... would need to have that as well of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm

I recently watched an episode of Curb where Larry David goes to a Bridge Night (that ends of course in the worst way). But it's a bridge night and I could bring cut triangle sandwiches and have a gin n tonic.

Been lucky to have attended 2 Cecile Mc Salvant concerts … definitely recommend seeing her in-person.
She blends that old school vibe with her own new twists ! Despite living in semi-rural VT, we are near Dartmouth college, so not only get to attend great visiting artists but often get to experience the occasional master class with the artists.
Salvant has alot to offer and share (she adores the history - blossom dearie & Dinah Washington are faves of hers). She frequently covers Blossom Dearie in concert. Recommend Salvant’s live albums & YouTubes.

Also : try young SAMARA JOY’s live music YouTube’s !
(She’s an absolutely terrific old soul jazz vocalist !)
