a 3 hour restaurant jazz awareness program would be helpful. i can't quite picture the vibes it puts off, and would like some in-depth investigation into it. thanks!

No offense intended to her fans, but I remember being in a restaurant that was piping in Cesaria Evora. I couldn't imagine anything more restaurant jazzy than that.

RRG, as I've said before of Springsteen, somehow I just could never strap my hands round his engine.

What about Restaurant Folk? Meandery patterns of strumming or even flamenco that fills space and goes nowhere.

I prefer eateries with NO MUSIC and NO FLATSCREENS. I go to eat and chat, not be entertained or distracted.

KINKS KOVER!!!!!! Never heard a "Victoria" cover on the radio before!

No flatscreens, absolutely! A decent pizza joint in town with a wonderful array of beers on tap is also wall-to-wall flatscreens. Can't do it. OTOH, my regular coffee joint is always playing something compelling: Brotzmann, Viagra Boys, industrial... This morning: Lady Gaga.

I agree with you. It is difficult enough to get the attention of the staff, especially these days. Distractions not needed.

As have said before - great Musicians & noisy Diners have always been somewhat @ odds in venues. Perhaps that territorial dispute has been decisively determined. & not of course in Musician's favor. To Irwin's point tho - they were always kind of @ odds...
