I say eat and rip music at the same time, WR. Whatever you do, don't sleep.

I forgot to mention during the break that I once saw Donovan live. Wish I had thought to play peek-a-boo with him to test this theory.

I think the Allman's nod to Donovan was pretty much known at the time. Not that everyone knew about Eat A Peach, or even The Allman Brothers Band for that matter

The world I lived in at the time (Texas) The Allman Brothers were much more widely known than Donovan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
StringOFperils:

↳ WR @10:34
The American experience in general would be quite different to where I was; I would think the south would have locked in on Duane much earlier...Donovan was huge on AM radio where I was, and there was no FM. No internet then. Not much TV traction for rock action yet either, and the 'rock press' was still getting its wheels off the runway, in the national and international sense. Texas was always way ahead where blues was concerned anyway; it lives there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm

All I know was I was about 16 in remote northern Ontario, total plookaville, and I knew Mountain Jam was Donovan. Someone before me left a copy of Eat A Peach in the art room in my high school

my brother brought home eat a peach the year it came out, and i Loved it. a few years later i borrowed Donovan's greatest hits from the library and immediately recognised there is a mountain. i only knew 2-3 Donovan radio hits until then.

I'd like to think that had Duane lived on the Allman Brothers would have similarly produced a jam based on Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat." It would have been beautiful. Yet even if I'm wrong, I wish Duane had lived on.

A Boston radio news director who taught a college class I was in said, "If you can come up with a better ratings system (than Aribitron and Nielsen), DO IT!" He made it sound like people in the biz though those outfits and methods were terrible. He said this 46 years ago.
