Hi Dave. Liking this.

mic_a:

Dave, a humble request/suggestion? Perhaps some week, a special focus on 1967, which seems to be Prog Year Zero. The Moody's "Days Of Future Passed", Procol Harum's first album, Pink Floyd's "Piper", Tomorrow (w/ Steve Howe) got out a couple of singles, and The Nice squeaked one out at the end of the year. (Alas, Love Sculpture didn't get "Sabre Dance" out until '68.) Prog seeds were germinating inside so many psychedelic bands. That busy-bee, busy-fingers aesthetic. Melodies lifted from classical music, chromaticism pulling players beyond the blues scales ("Lucifer Sam"), multi-scene medleys taking over from verse/chorus structure. Vanilla Fudge? Hmmm.
