But Geist has a broader spectrum, stretching also to spirit, as in Holy Spirit. Then there's the Geisteswissenschaften (lit. the sciences of mind), which are what we call the humanities. Soul can also be Gemüt, which is more the seat of feeling.

I used to hook students into reading The Road and/or No Country by showing the beginning of the films only with the promise of the entire flick when they fnished the book... Required a 2 paragraph Reading Log (I. Summary II. Analysis) per chapter/section so no plagarism, etc... It worked well ...

Dirty pennies from an old Newark factory that used to process benzene, or soap, or Agent Orange, or all three.

Soul can also be Gemüt, which is more the seat of feeling.
