A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

This kind of music was once relegated to the New Age niche, although it would be arguable as to whether or not it could fit into the Space Rock oeuvre as well. Gottsching's ambitions certainly wasn't anywhere near the same level as Nik Turner's & Hawkwind's was.
  9:45pm

I disagree, Androu B. It was in my experience always at the very core of German prog. I'd say Popol Vuh were more inclined to court New Age sensibilities.

The thing is, every complaint about all this media was leveled against novels before moving pictures existed.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm

What lured me to Decoder was the conspiracy theory angle, attempting to investigate how the audiovisual sensory makeup of the "typical" human mind is subject to the mercy of psychosomatic suggestion. I quickly caught on to what the premise was all about when I was reminded of an article I read about a secret Nazi-conducted experiment that tested the limits of human tolerance to extreme levels of soundusig a device called an interferocetor.
