Leo, for some reasons even though I know that image is a nun when I zoom in, I always imagine it at as an old guy with a white beard... a wizard dude

I've heard a rumor he wanted to redo strawberry fields to a grander vision
Avatar 10:57pm
Mr Fab:

Hello, hello, John n Laurie!

My wife and I visited Strawberry Fields across from the Dakota in 2000, for the 20th anniversary of the horribleness. 17degree weather but still a big turnout for the vigil.

Mr Fab:

"Some Time in New York City" is Lennon's least loved album, but that "Angela" tune's a jam.

The Phil Spector production on this is very close to Death of a Ladies Man
Avatar 11:18pm
Mr Fab:

And Phil worked on "Let It Be," "Plastic Ono Band," "All Things Must Pass"... wow, didn't realize before but Phil Spector was the 5th Beatle!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
MHLee:

I'll tell you. He was a freak but I never heard a Phil Spector song where I thought it was too much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
MHLee:

I even like the Ramones thing
Avatar 11:28pm
Mr Fab:

Yeah, his work on “plastic Ono band“ is spot-on.

“Do you remember rock ‘n’ roll radio“ wouldn’t be the same without the Spector-isms! Never thought I would want to hear the Ramones with a horn section, but it works a treat.

The Beach Boys?
prankster
Avatar 11:34pm
Mr Fab:

Yes, Leo, now it can be told! It was the Beach boys that recorded that song. And the Beatles actually recorded “Surfin USA,” a lot of people don’t know that.
Avatar 🌃 11:35pm
LeoIRodriguez:

I am now enlightened. thank you Mr. Fab. especially for the 5th Beatle theory...
Avatar 11:49pm
Mr Fab:

we had to write a paper in school on someone we admired. i wrote about Lennon. Mere days later he was killed. That was some real unfortunate timing.

Beneath the Underground:

Hey hey, Subterraneans. So sorry we didn’t write in during the show. So glad you got to hang with us as we celebrated John Lennon (and a bit of Johnny Thunders too). Juggling the tech problems made it impossible to reply to all of your thoughts, memories and comments. Peace.
