When my daughter was in preschool she had a friend who's dad was from NZ. One time I started talking to him about the Clean without any context because I assumed the Clean were a household name in NZ like the Beatles. He gave me a confused look and said “No, never heard of them, mate.” Hahaha

yeah, i spoke with somebody earlier this year who was a hippie music head in christchurch just before the clean were coming up, and he hadn't heard of them, which also surprised me. he has now!

I listen to a ton of music. Albeit my knowledge is maybe 5% of avg fmu dj, but still. I had heard of The Clean, never knew a song. Never heard of The Mad Scene. Glad to be getting schooled. Sad this happens after folks pass, but, beauty of being an artist is that you leave a legacy. May be smallish, but we’re experiencing it now. Thanks JJ.
