And generally presented not by scientists but by the marketing depts. of ISPs, which deliberately try to obscure what the numbers mean. A friend was on a grand jury once, and the only charge he managed to get dismissed was when he realized the prosecutor was giving the weight of the drugs in avoidupois measures while the statute had it metric (or the other way around). Fortunately, he had a bag of candy with him with both measurements on them and was able to cry foul because the DA was hiding that the weight didn't measure up to the statute's requirement. And generally presented not by scientists but by the marketing depts. of ISPs, which deliberately try to obscure what the numbers mean. A friend was on a grand jury once, and the only charge he managed to get dismissed was when he realized the prosecutor was giving the weight of the drugs in avoidupois measures while the statute had it metric (or the other way around). Fortunately, he had a bag of candy with him with both measurements on them and was able to cry foul because the DA was hiding that the weight didn't measure up to the statute's requirement.
