	👻 9:21pm Austin Rich: This episode has a lot of surface noise, for Box 13, which is usually very pristine sounding. But you can hear the skips in the transcription disc.

	9:23pm Mr Fab: I think I mentioned here before that horse-racing was the most popular sport in the US, pre-tv. So there’s plenty of movies (and radio shows too, apparently) set at “the races,” from the Marx Bros on down.

	👻 9:30pm Austin Rich: While this show introduces itself as, "The Log of The Black Parrot," it is, in fact, a new pilot for a new sailing show, re-tooled to, hopefully appeal to a wider audience. It wasn't picked up, but we do have a recording of it. You'll notice some similarities to The Voyage of Scarlet Queen, including some cast, characters, and gimmicks.

	👻 9:33pm Austin Rich: We will have Red as the first mate, but a new captain (or, at least, someone with a different name). My "head cannon" is that Phil Carney finally had to quit / leave / abandon the sailing life, someone else bought the ship and changed the name, and Red stayed on as the first mate. There's no evidence that this is true. It's just what I came up with.

	👻 9:50pm Austin Rich: Certainly, it is a bit of a trope in sailing stories that, when we are meeting the crew of a ship, the Captain comes off as a real bastard at first. I suspect the idea was that we would learn how to "like" the Captain in future episodes, but in this episode, you don't really like the Captain at all.
