I thought Dvorak took the melody from an old spiritual of that name (composer unkown, I think). He certainly made it famous though.

I think it became a song with lyrics after Dvorak's symphony.

Well, Wikipedia tells me that I am part of a popular misconception: "The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual-like song "Goin' Home" (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvořák's pupil William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922."
You are correct, @Dean!

Did anyone catch my typo? I entered the song title for this tune as "Dangerous Hapiness."

Shit, that would make a fine name for a radio show.

Doug, have you read 'In the Country of Country' by Nicholas Dawidoff? Interesting articles on Country.

I have NOT read that, and I know I should. Tyler Mahan Coe has referenced it multiple times as one of his go-to sources.

I always try to save the "best" track for last in this closing soul set. (Understanding that "best" is an entirely subjective value judgment.) But honestly, any one of these tracks could have been the closer. Just, wow.
