The library in our hometown dedicated a mural in the children's library to her memory. Same sis taught me how to read when I was about three years old. She inspired me to go to the library each week. It was around the corner from our apartment. Mom trusted me to go by myself.

	👻 9:20pm Austin Rich: I loved going the the library, from as early an age as I can remember. Books were always fun, and libraries had TONS OF BOOKS. In college, I got hooked on inter-library loan. It's the one thing that I miss the most about college.
	9:21pm postconsumer: brought home records and books about how to draw, as a kid. Watched Abbot and Costello and Laurel and Hardy films there, too. good times.
	👻 9:22pm Austin Rich: Oh yeah! I used to love getting old movies from the library, for free. Better than the video store.

When I was old enough to take out books from the main library, I gravitated toward biographies, especially of film actors and directors. I adored Wm. Henry Pratt. I even spent free periods in high school in the library or I'd tutor other students in the library.

	10:36pm coelacanth∅: i worked in a cemetery in my 20s, had an interesting occurrence (well a few but one that's of a "supernatural" nature) ...but it's the kind of story a listener could easily think is my invention.

	10:42pm coelacanth∅: maybe... i have told people about it, but knowing they'll decide it was my imagination. ... i did invite adventure. i took a nap at the bottom of an 8' deep grave during lunch break; wrote a song in another one that had corpses on all sides, hoping for inspiration from somewhere beyond; but didn't feel anything as far as i know.

A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.
