cousin of Iggy got a job and took us to Iggy's
flat = 9th st near 6h ave = '79 a dive of a dump....

Fast Fwd .. my partner of 10 years was friends with Iggy's son's Ma.. lovely woman .. The wee boy is lovely (he is big now)we went to his BD party (9th near B) and bought him a wee Piano which he did a Jerry Lee Lewis on .. He is a big boy now and doing well far away

Well - Miles had been the ultimate Cool Stylist. I've heard people suggest he was just this again guy who wanted to stay 'Hip' ...& had too much coke, what have you. All of which is - probly so as far as it goes.
...Whereas I'm listening to it thinking - if Rawk is a branch of the Jazz tree - then this is fully reclaiming it. It's no less than that Scale.

Jazz was supposed to be all about setting up a mic or two - & just blowing. Electric instruments & Recording techniques - shaping things by Mixing & Editing - & novel Sounds - all that was the province of Rawk & Pop ...as with Dylan 'going electric' - the Genre Purists didn't see these as things that could be Legit or Meaningful.
Let alone this next step of fully taking on Funk & even Players who maybe had no idea about the Changes for 'Take the A Train'...
