The book is the first part of a remarkably in-depth two-volume
study of the music of Cuba, its historical and cultural roots and its global
impact.
The first chapter of the book, which traces the
story's foundation to antiquity, is at WNYC's website here.

mid-20th century Cuban singer/bandleader Arsenio Rodriguez via the Afropop
