I'm ok with that song being performed at my funeral, but only is the singer is named Else.

I got a copy of Al Jolson, The Singing Fool recently, skimmed through it last night to check the copy was complete. My mind is still reeling. It is no single aspect that hits me so hard, it is that it was mainstream popular success.

I think bing has excellent phrasing when delivering a line
  Swag For Life Member 10:59am
WR:

Is this the "original" version of Daar Is De Orgelman or one of many?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am

I think Sonneveld made another recording of it, but he is the "original" singer singing it in Dutch.

Rich in Washington:

Is RTV Focus public or state funded?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am
Jan Turkenburg:

We have a unique construction here, but to cut it short: we're talking about 80.000 euro tax payer's money a year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am
Rich in Washington:

Ah. I see.
That story you posted is unfortunate. Sounds horrible for staff.
Avatar 11:28am

That sounds awful, Jan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am
Jan Turkenburg:

I left, because I was 'unhappy' about how that money was spent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Jan Turkenburg:

I didn't even know about the rest... because I was working from home, but I had heard rumours...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Rich in Washington:

I've seen no less than five really dysfunctional regimes come and go at my station since I've been there. The last couple had nearly no actual community radio experience and tried to run the station as if it's an anarchist collective bookstore. Lots of infighting and backstabbing.
Avatar 11:32am
worldsworstrecords:

It's been a fun show, Jan but i have to go attend to dog stuff! Catch you all soon folks!

I don't think so, Listener Robert. In my experience with small non-profit orgs and political groups, it's sort of like that quote by Wallace Stanley Sayre: "...the politics were so intense because the stakes were so low."
  11:40am
Listener Robert:

So, like over who's responsible for closing the door after a shift change?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am
Jan Turkenburg:

I call this NCS: neighborhood committee syndrom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Rich in Washington:

everyone wants to be the king of their little ideological hill and they're passionate about it. Also, small non-profits sort of attract bottom-feeding narcissists, as they're naïvely inclusive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Rich in Washington:

Perfect, Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am

Was going to write about Edith Piaf's voice just cuts through because had to turn down volume (was on a phone call with team). But now I read that you had turned up the volume at that time. Well, no denying that Piaf does have a distinctive voice.
