Damn straight! Pretty sure either the original series or TNG had a line about racism being a peculiarity that happened way in the past
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 6:09pm

And not for nothin -- Nichelle Nichols definitely pushed the boundaries of being a babe on 60s TV.

Just recently saw a TikTok about Star Trek being one of the only Sci-Fi properties that imagined a hopeful future, where humanity fixed its problems and focused on the betterment of people for their own sake, and I cant really argue with that. Although, I bet someone will chime in with OTHER examples of hopeful sci-fi...

I've only ever read the 1st one, but the Foundation series by Asimov is pretty much about a scientist who tries to formulate a plan that spans thru the vast vast future. Every thousand or so years, he'll appear in a prerecorded message to the world leaders and share his mathmatically proven cryptic messages that will ensure world peace. The whole series spans thru millions of years.
Avatar 6:17pm
ExcellentMandible:

Yeah, Foundation was more about "fostering humanity through a dark age" more than the fruition of humanity into adulthood.

So this isn't really the point of The Stars, My Destination -- but it takes place in the future where humanity learned how to naturally teleport. It solved all transportation issues on earth!

The Culture novels are about a far advanced humanity in a Star Trek-esque "post scarcity" society, but right in the first book they re in the middle of a war that they grudgingly entered, so not exactly as hopeful as you might think.

Ok so whenever I think of the Star Trek theme. I think about how Gene Rodenberry wrote lyrics to the instrumental song and had them recorded for posterity because it would mean that every time the instrumental version got played he would get paid residuals.
