RR well, it's the worst song on the album! still not bad but pretty forgetable, in my opinion -but that's not the lyrics' fault

I was totally fascinated by album covers, and artwork regarding music in general. When I got my first record, I wrote LOVE in my version of the bands logo in the dust on the trunk lid of our new car. My father was not amused.

at the time i read that the lyrics were written in jail. i'd never heard of Keith Levine and didn't put the pieces together 'till a few years later.
i don't know if the jail story is true.

The Clash were a big deal. The night they played for the first time in L.A. I went with my married girlfriend. Later that night, she caught me with the girl that lived downstairs. As you can imagine, all hell broke loose. That's my memory of The Clash in L.A.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm

Bollocks is a record I always think has aged poorly until it's playing

All great for sure. I tried to do a Top20 Albums Ever by Anybody - & that's just beyond absurdly few. Put TheClash debut in it but not piSToLS or Ramones. Ramones are Ramones - but is it about Albums? Now that's a great statement about Bollocks ultrad !... Played it every day then - & never now. Whereas I've appreciated TheClash more & more...

my best friend who got me into Record Club of America also had two older brothers -- whenever i would go to her parents' apartment to hang out, we would play records and sing along to them -- her records, but a bunch of one of her brother's too -- Trout Mask Replica was my favorite ("and I will buy you/a cherry phosphate" 🎶🎶)

i think i learned to take care of my records from my Mom when i was still pretty little -- she taught me how to play them on a turntable, how to handle only by the edges, wipe with the little duster before playing, etc. -- she and my Dad still had all their (breakable) 78s, so maybe that is how/why they learned record care!

Well I have a particular memory of hearing 'Future Legend' the intro to DiamondDogs seeping from under my brother's door - I'm maybe ten & it's the early 1970s, right? To this day it's about the same when I hear some Bowie writing & how he integrated all the aspects vertically from Concept to Band to Pop Track. Like Alice said - it was another era when you could have mystique about your identity. Glammers seemed like actual Aliens to some extent.
