	9:12pm Krys O.: I hear you, Kat, but I kinda watched what my older brother chose. It suited me fine. The ABC 4:30 Movie would have theme weeks like Planet of the Apes, Elvis, or what have you.

	👻 9:13pm Austin Rich: Certainly, the Planet of The Apes movies were in heavy circulation on cable TV when I was growing up, but I missed the "Planet of The Apes" fever that was happening in the early / mid-70's. These days, I think I actually like these movies / stories more than I did then.

	9:15pm Krys O.: My brother was much into special effects and he would explain how they were done. I also was fascinated with movie makeup.
	👻 9:15pm Austin Rich: The first one is really good. (the 1968 one.) The rest are... okay-ish. (Typical b-movie fare, really.) The continuity doesn't always match up from movie to movie... and there's weird time-jumps and stuff. But they're fun sci-fi.

	9:23pm Krys O.: I adored Silent Running and it still holds up. Saw Dark Star in the theater in the old dilapidated cinema with a gigantic chandelier. Also saw Devil's Rain there. Scared the bejeebus out of me.

	👻 9:25pm Austin Rich: Solaris holds up. But get ready for a long film. And... a puzzling one, at least at first. I think it took me two viewings to really get Solaris. But I LOVE IT. And Stalkyr. A different kind of sci-fi / fantasy, but I love it.

	9:34pm Krys O.: Quatermass and the Pit gave me night terrors as a child. I never remembered them the next day, but my family would tell me that I would wake up screaming after watching horror movies on TV.

	👻 9:36pm Austin Rich: Yeah, Quatermass is great! Gorgo is cool, and there's a good MST3k version. Anything Harryhausen was invovled in is priceless!

	9:37pm Mr. X: I first found out about Planet of the Apes because some other kids in grade school had Planet of the Apes lunchboxes.

	9:38pm Krys O.: By a certain age I'd make my way to the public library to the film history section and I'd take out piles of books about King Kong, Dracula, Boris Karloff, and so on. Most of my personal library is made up of books on cinema.

	👻 10:25pm Austin Rich: I've probably said this before, but: the first show that I paid for out of my pocket was to see The Butthole Surfers, and holy cats, they put on a show! Naked Cage Dancers! Video projections of crazy films over the band. I think most of the audience only knew that, "Who Was In My Room Last Night?" song, but they were doing something much more confrontational. It really sent me down a path toward loving punk rock.
	10:27pm Mr. X: The crazy films were about venereal diseases, and were shown upside-down, if I recall correctly.
	👻 10:28pm Austin Rich: Yeah... and all sorts of creepy stuff, too. Bugs crawling on rotting things, etc. Just wild for a naive small-town kid to see.

	👻 10:29pm Austin Rich: Salem Armory, actually! One of the few shows I saw in Salem, before I lived here. The Armory no longer puts on shows, because the primary investor who was paying everyone left town. Sigh.
	👻 10:30pm Austin Rich: Though, Smegma and Hell Cows would be AMAZING openers for them. I really love those Hell Cows records.

	👻 10:38pm Austin Rich: I should mention: there were no official soundtrack releases for either "Battle For The Planet of The Apes" or "Conquest of The Planet of The Apes" until 2001, when they were both re-issued on a CD. (There might be new versions of the soundtracks since then, but there weren't any vintage ones.) So that's why the image for the soundtrack doesn't match up the story we're currently playing.
	👻 10:39pm Austin Rich: This song goes out to my friend Colin, who is a huge Vandals fan, and used to play this album all the time after he got it. I have a soft spot for it, but there's only a handful of songs that really fit my show anymore... but certainly, their Planet of The Apes song has to make the cut.

He was at The Sandy Hut in PDX, and I said Hello and bought him a beer. Only afterward did I really get to know his albums, which are pretty good! I can't really say I know what he was like. My friend seemed to be enamored.

Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

	👻 9:13pm Austin Rich: Certainly, the Planet of The Apes movies were in heavy circulation on cable TV when I was growing up, but I missed the "Planet of The Apes" fever that was happening in the early / mid-70's. These days, I think I actually like these movies / stories more than I did then.

	👻 9:15pm Austin Rich: The first one is really good. (the 1968 one.) The rest are... okay-ish. (Typical b-movie fare, really.) The continuity doesn't always match up from movie to movie... and there's weird time-jumps and stuff. But they're fun sci-fi.

	👻 10:25pm Austin Rich: I've probably said this before, but: the first show that I paid for out of my pocket was to see The Butthole Surfers, and holy cats, they put on a show! Naked Cage Dancers! Video projections of crazy films over the band. I think most of the audience only knew that, "Who Was In My Room Last Night?" song, but they were doing something much more confrontational. It really sent me down a path toward loving punk rock.

	👻 10:38pm Austin Rich: I should mention: there were no official soundtrack releases for either "Battle For The Planet of The Apes" or "Conquest of The Planet of The Apes" until 2001, when they were both re-issued on a CD. (There might be new versions of the soundtracks since then, but there weren't any vintage ones.) So that's why the image for the soundtrack doesn't match up the story we're currently playing.

I have a soft spot for it, but there's only a handful of songs that really fit my show anymore... but certainly, their Planet of The Apes song has to make the cut.
