It is, Kris. I'll be filling in for Flot's Spot. It's at 8:00 pm, CT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm

Member did understand that "with bells on" phrase-wouldn't that detract from the event your coming to?
This Spirit is up there in my Best Song Ever list!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I think the only thing people may know about Spirit is them getting ripped off by Led Zeppelin
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
JtotheK:

Yeah, great Tom Jones 45!
Avatar 10:41pm
Kris Holmes:

Hadn't seen one for ages & then found a couple in quick succession at different times.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
JtotheK:

Internet Research shows - that Tom Jones was sampled by 62 songs. Whoa!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Candy-O'67:

That is the best Spirit song. Have always loved that one
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
JtotheK:

Area record store had the Tom Jones 'Chills and Fever' 45 on Tower somewhat recently. I probably should have bought it.
Avatar 10:45pm
still b/p:

Any story behind Tom being allowed to do his own distinctive thing in the studio? Anyone try to rein him in or neutralize him to something more standard-sappy-sleepy-safe? Or once he established his appeal and sales, they said "Yeah, go!"...?
Avatar 10:45pm
Kris Holmes:

Yeah, it's great & you never see that one! Chills & Fever.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
JtotheK:

I like this Ramsey Lewis 45 and the LP isn't bad either.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Candy-O'67:

Chris, total drought over here, too
Avatar 10:46pm
Kris Holmes:

Tom Jones always had good R&B scattered throughout, he was definitely a Blues & Soul fan.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
JtotheK:

Tom Jones was also great in the feature film "Mars Attacks" - would you agree Matt from NO?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
JtotheK:

Re: TJ Chills/Fever - at the time I thought "it's a Tom Jones 45, it'll turn up again..." and then I realized hours later that wait - I'd never actually seen it before...and also that it was priced well below going rate. And I realized then and there that yep, I should've just bought it. So it goes.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Candy-O'67:

JtotheK, Night Owl plays a lot of that Ramsey Lewis LP
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
JtotheK:

At one point I was purchasing any Ramsey Lewis record that I came across because they are always inexpensive. Same thing with Ahmad Jamal. Then all the sudden realized I had 20+ albums by both Ramsey Lewis and Ahmad Jamal and that I wouldn't be listening to all 40 on a regular basis and that they took up a lot of space.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
Candy-O'67:

Haha!
Avatar 11:01pm
Kris Holmes:

I honestly believe that if you let a Ramsey Lewis record into your home that when you're asleep it opens the door & lets the rest of them in secretly & before you know it there's like 25 Ramsey lewis LPs in your collection!!! It's weird. I also had to unfile a ton
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Candy-O'67:

Crackin me up, Kris!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
doctorjazz:

Kris@11:01, hahahaha!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
JtotheK:

Exactly Kris, they are always good records and never very expensive! I'll have to look at which Ramsey LPs are still filed. Mother Nature's Son, Wade in the Water, Maiden Voyage ... and I'm sure more. Ahmad Jamal I kept the Impulse LPs and a bunch of others.
Avatar 11:11pm
Kris Holmes:

I am down to maybe one Ahmad Jamal LP finally
Avatar 11:11pm
still b/p:

Ya need to create a little stop-motion film illustrating that record-collection night mischief in progress in the household.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Candy-O'67:

Yes, still b/p!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
JtotheK:

Did you keep Ahmad Jamal 'The Awakening' ? That has become a 200-300 record recently.
Avatar 11:16pm
Kris Holmes:

I've never had that
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
JtotheK:

It's great! 15-20 years ago it was in demand because of the Nas sample for 'The World is Yours' but not sure when exactly it jumped up so much. I found a couple 'in the field' 15+ years ago, I think I gave one to my brother in law.
Avatar 11:21pm
Kris Holmes:

I'd definitely file if I came across it, just haven't yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
