Potassium-nitrate and white sugar and fire. The high-point of chemistry-set history. What a beautiful crater in my desk, what a fine pyroclastic plume that followed me upstairs to the kitchen.

@Dale > Nope. It's saltpetre. It's been used in prison food to keep things soft downstairs. Maybe that's why it's called salt peter. I dunno.

“I had hated these ponies for the part they played in my father's death but now I realized the notion was fanciful, that it was wrong to charge blame to these pretty beasts who knew neither good nor evil but only innocence. I say that of these ponies. I have known some horses and a good many more pigs who I believe harbored evil intent in their hearts. I will go further and say all cats are wicked, though often useful. Who has not seen Satan in their sly faces? Some preachers will say, well, that is superstitious "claptrap." My answer is this: Preacher, go to your Bible and read Luke 8: 26-33”

PaulRobeson1922:

Self-Mastery Is Our True Aim

Evil does not naturally dwell in the world, in events, or in people. Evil is a by-product of forgetfulness, laziness, or distraction: it arises when we lose sight of our true aim in life.

When we remember that our aim is spiritual progress, we return to striving to be our best selves. This is how happiness is won.” -Epictetus
