Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

I recall the first time I heard Starcastle -- my college roommate was a director at the U Michigan Ann Arbor student station in 76-78, and one day he told me I had to come down and listen to this record that had come in, because I knew a lot about prog. He throws on the first Starcastle album in an unused studio. I was underwhelmed at first (derivative...?), but they are really not bad at all!

@Woods: Howe has said in interviews over the years that there were so many top-shelf blues-based UK guitarists already by 1970 that he wanted to do something different -- find or create a less overcrowded niche, in a way. He also mentions that Brits have a tendency to be very eclectic in their influences, and he tried to do that.

September of my Years may be the most depressing album ever recorded. But it's still great.

My partner courted me to the strains of this. He was turned on to Sinatra by Glen Jones.

There is a through line between that Doors song and this Sinatra. Loving it!

Bruford (so he says) left Yes because (1) Yes members always endlessly argued about arrangements, beyond any point B thought; and (2) Squire was always always always late for things, which annoyed B as the other member of the rhythm section, and also the band vehicle in early years was always speeding like crazy to make gigs because of S's chronic lateness, and B thought he was gonna end up getting killed.
