Hi Kris and all. Here at the start tonight.

Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Nice to seem some other peeps at the start. It’s been quiet lately. Hey Kris, WR & Jason.
Avatar 10:03pm
Kris Holmes:

Heya team, thanks for tuning in
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
JtotheK:

Matt, I hope to finish the 1978 'Death on the Nile' feature -- my repeated attempts over the weekend, I fell asleep after 20 mins. Sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Don’t remember caring for that much
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:06pm
JtotheK:

I find it's always worth giving a listen to 'Work Song' 45s in dollar bins. I found a Trade Martin 'Work Song' a few years ago.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
JtotheK:

^ Same comment also applies to 'Why Don't You Do Right', I suppose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Remember an old Bette Davis being in that movie Jason
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
JtotheK:

^^ Did the Jessica Rabbit 'Why Don't You Do Right' from Who Framed Roger Rabbit get issued on 45?
Avatar 10:08pm
Kris Holmes:

Certain songs always worth a needle drop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Kris Mark Murphy is Jazz and belongs with the rest of his catalog
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
JtotheK:

Yep Matt and a cast of dozens of others, ie George Kennedy.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:11pm
WR:

Does Kris have jazz 45 boxes?
Avatar 10:11pm
Kris Holmes:

I think that's the only Mark Murphy 45 I have
Avatar 10:11pm
Kris Holmes:

Yes, I have Jazz 45 boxes, fairly certain there's no more Mark Murphy 45s in there
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
JtotheK:

Cool Blue Flame has spun Mark Murphy 'Come and Get Me' 45. (Can be found for sub-2 bucks on 'Scogs.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Fair. I just like giving you a hard time on some of your filing choices. I hear ya on that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Does the video stream still dominate the chat over there Jason? I love Danny and the show but that finally pushed me away from the chat.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
JtotheK:

I haven't been on the chat board as much lately, been tuning into archives. The last time the conversation was wide ranging!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Got ya
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Matt from New Orleans:

That Virgil Murray didn’t do much for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I have an Ace comp of this label
Avatar 10:29pm
Kris Holmes:

Music City an interesting label, prolific but not overly well known

hi candy!
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm

I guess the WFMU station lock down is going to slow the swag getting out. I look forward to hearing your and Tony Coulter's premium CDs.
  10:41pm
Dean:

I've heard Mark Murphy live only once, but it was in the evening of the day when Alan Broadbent's trio played for my public library at my initiative. Following the afternoon trio performance Broadbent headed to Culver City to accompany Murphy. My wife and I followed. It was a marvelous day.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:42pm

Thanks, JtotheK. I'm in and out these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm

I never finished my SWAG for life pledge WR as I couldn’t decide what I wanted. They’re still taking my money each month so I’m not too concerned.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
WR:

Don't know that Big Boy Myles on V-Tone. Discogs says V-Tone was a Philly label.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Hey Dean. Long time no see. Hope you’re doing ok.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
WR:

I nearly opted for downloads of the swag CDs but decided not. And, yes, the station is good on getting the donations, swag or no swag.
  10:50pm
Dean:

Thank you, Matt. I'm doing just fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Both groups are from Chicago but think they’re different groups
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
JtotheK:

The Mystiques 45 based on Discogs history leads me to believe it might be a while before one presents itself in a dollar bin.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
JtotheK:

Kris will any upcoming program feature 45s from the Ohio Soul book? *Which reminds me, I need to pre-order that!
Avatar 11:03pm
Kris Holmes:

I also need to order that. I'm not certain I'm really the person to do that show. Maybe I should ask DC for a guest mix.
Avatar 11:04pm
Kris Holmes:

Wish I'd found that Mystiques in a dollar bin but at least it wasn't top dollar at the time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I vaguely remember there being some allegations against Jason Joshua and Penrose cutting ties with him but he must have had some people really cleaning that up as I can’t seem to find anything about that. Just noticed he’s no longer on the repress version of the Penrose Showcase and triggered the vague memories. He’s still putting stuff out on Mango Hill so it doesn’t seem like his career suffered much.
Avatar 11:20pm
Kris Holmes:

You are correct. It was not a good look. Not sure what the out come was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm

They were great tonight, man, can those 4 play!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
Matt from New Orleans:

That’s Kenny Neal’s dad. He’s from Baton Rouge. Had to see the name in print as the Kiwi was a struggle there. 😂

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm

Doc, that's cool you saw Wilco, too. I haven't seen them in a long time ..
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
JtotheK:

^ I used to shop at the record store that The Neapolitan ran. (Not that I expect him to remember me.) ((Also would attend nights when said Neapolitan would spin 45s.)) (((Good grief, that's likely 15 years ago? More?)))
Avatar 11:42pm
Kris Holmes:

Lotus Land Records?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
JtotheK:

Neapolitan Records. I bought a nice clean copy of Cal Tjader "Soul Sauce" LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I met Wilco 15 years ago. They did a fundraiser for the non-profit I used to work for. They were nice to me that night. Think it was at Tips.
Avatar 11:44pm
Kris Holmes:

I never knew of that store
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
Candy-O'67:

That's cool, Matt
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
JtotheK:

*But yes, I was a customer of Lotus Land, too.
**And am still a customer of the current store, though it's been internet orders lately.
(Though to be clear -- Neapolitan was different owner than Lotus Land.)

I used to play that Peter Nero 45 out, because - Peter Nero!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
doctorjazz:

I've met the Wilco members a few times myself (a good friend is very close to Nels Cline, and has had the other members play house concerts in his living room). They're a very nice crew (Jeff Tweedy I've said hi to, but he's pretty much a loner).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm

He used to play with Slim Harpo

Aaron Neville is GOD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Buddy Guy. Just remembered. 🤦‍♂️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

I saw Aaron Neville in a church in Brooklyn many years back, accompanied by just a piano. He sand Ave Maria, I thought once was lost, but now was found (and I'm a Brooklyn Jewish kid).
Avatar 11:53pm
Kris Holmes:

Gotcha.
I got a fantastic 45 score out of a Milwaukee shop that closed & sold it's inventory to a store in NZ that I got to process for them.

Great Lakes Records by chance?
Avatar 11:55pm
Kris Holmes:

Mean Mountain Music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I saw Aaron sing Gospel at Jazz Fest around 20X Doc. Always was amazing.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:55pm
WR:

I love them both, but Art's singing is tops for me.
Avatar 11:56pm
Kris Holmes:

Played Juggy, he was back with the Js
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I figured he was and I probably commented about it at the time
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
JtotheK:

Ah! That was a bit before my record collectro time - though a while ago some other collection came out that I think was MMM-adjacent, and had a ton of great LPs. That was 5-7 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Thanks Kris. Enjoyed the tail end of the Ms and beginning of the Ns.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:58pm
JtotheK:

Great Lakes was a shop that closed and sold the bulk of the inventory to an overseas store. That was around 2005/2006, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm
doctorjazz:

Have seen Aaron with the Nevilles a number of time, but that was the time I saw him solo, and I think singing in an old church (it's a really impressive one in Brooklyn Heights) inspired him.
I got to Jazz Fest twice, in the 90s, one of these days...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm

No Charmaine Neville?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am

I think if I brought home a record collection like that, it's divorce city for me...
