A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Only twenty? My guess is that George Washington lacked a sense of humor. America was founded on a principle of self-righteousness, which makes humor difficult to achieve.

I'm not sure that the abandonment of Frankfurt vs. Chicago is such a bad thing.

Was that Saccharine Trust tape recorded in Lawrence? There was a windowless cinderblock building way out in a cornfield called, appropriately enough, the Outhouse, where all the punk bands used to play circa '84-'88
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm

It wasn't until I saw Universal Congress Of... that I fully realized what a motherfucker of guitar player Baiza is.

@Zip I think so. There's a whole list of tapes from there it came from. Pretty good Minutemen I got from there too.

Yeah, Biaza is amazing. Like Greg Ginn and Sonny Sharrock had a love child.

I once met these two crazy exiled Minneapolis scene kids who were Finnish Apostolic Lutherans who were just apeshit about The Replacements.
I say exiled because the Finnish Apostolic Church would send wayward boys to the church in my town in order to 'calm them down'.
They were some of the rowdiest, most drinkingest kids I ever met. They were lotsa fun at shows. They loved fighting and even seasoned skinhead assholes came to fear them.

Yeah, it was funny. The local Finn kids didn't know what to make of them. A big gaggle of the local kids once accompanied them to a punk show - to 'keep and eye on them' and it was hilarious. Their eyes were as big as saucers and pretty soon they disappeared one by one.

I think that's what's going with this Siberian scene I've been looking into...practically on top of the arctic circle and playing punk rock.

This is the type of music that used to send the engineer at KBOO into panic attacks. He'd come running into the air room thinking something was drastically wrong.
