Mr Fab:

there was a period in the late '80s where i was trying to find the orig singles of these "nuggets." They were fairly plentiful and inexpensive.
Avatar 12:10pm
Ursula1000:

there was a bootleg label (labels?) that were doing repros of garage punk classics a few years ago which i ate up
Avatar 12:17pm
Mr Fab:

Just looked up how much an orig pressing of "Black Monk Time" is going for - as much as over $3000. Needless t say, I do not have a copy!

Mr Fab:

13th Floor Elevators - Li'l Fab's first concert was a Roky Erikson children's show. Strange, but true. Even got free ice cream.

The Back From The Crypt series was an essential part of the garage resurgence thing.
Avatar 12:35pm

oh totally Rich----essential! turned me on to so much

Rich in Washington:

The free MP3 comp series Lux & Ivy's Favorites is pretty good, up to 18 volumes as of this writing. Sound quality and bitrate is a bit inconsistent, though.
Avatar 12:42pm
Ursula1000:

there's a label called Righteous which is an offshoot of Cherry Red who's been putting out a lot of comps under the "As Dug by Lux and Ivy"--not sure how legit they are but fun stuff
Avatar 12:44pm
Domenic:

18! Kogar put the last two together? too?
Avatar 12:45pm
Mr Fab:

Yes, I think they were all up on WFMU's Beware of the Blog. Think that's were I got them? Or maybe the old Rock n Soul blog? Crucial for initially building up the Sheena's stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Kogar put them all together. And some bootleggers relea$ed them on vinyl without crediting his hard work in any way. I'll bet the quality is utter shiite. Just low bitrate mp3s cut to vinyl.

Rich in Washington:

I think with some of those ancient sides, you can probably get away with putting them out semi-legitimately, as no one's likely to come after you. But anyone can file and send out a cease-and-desist.
Avatar 12:55pm
Mr Fab:

the "grey-market" releases.
Avatar 12:57pm
Domenic:

Kogar has done some serious research. He does a "jungle juice" podcast once a month. He lives here in NH. Would like to meet him someday.
Avatar 12:57pm
Ursula1000:

not sure if Ivy/Cramps is actually involved w those or the label is just saying, yeah, they'd probably dig these tracks!
Avatar 1:04pm
Mr Fab:

pretty sure Ivy has no say in all those. There's pretty much a cottage market for all these comps. Many of the same tracks released in various combinations. All goes back to the '80s "Songs the Cramps Taught Us" boot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Rich in Washington:

As far as I have heard, Ivy has absolutely no interest in merchandise or post-Lux Cramps releases. I would imagine she gets money from previous legit Cramps releases but what does that even mean nowadays?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Rich in Washington:

There are rumors she's in some kind of cult and has sold all of her and Lux's records and ephemera and has no plans to do any kind of music.
Avatar 1:11pm
Ursula1000:

I'm embarrassed to say that....I got a Cramps sweatshirt from....H&M! It's an amazing print but I wonder if she knows about it---hope so!

Her sister was on FB and would occasionally update fans that she was doing well and is happy, occasionally plays guitar for her own amusement but has no interest in 'the music biz', etc.
BUt then said sister apparently had some kind of falling out because she would post and bemoan the fact that her sister Christy/Ivy had fabricated lots of facts of her upbringing in bio stuff. Uh, duh. That's pretty much rock and roll and image making.
Avatar 1:14pm
Ursula1000:

I got my red Gretsch Chet Atkins guitar cuz of Ivy! Amazing sound...and twang!
Avatar 1:26pm

Ah, I see what you're doing here- when oldies acts decided they had to get psych. Excellent.
