Good Morning . No April Fools here Animaloonies. Yesterday was strange. I put food out at first light for my little stray & she didn't come . She usually comes at least 3 times daily. Suddenly at about 5PM she showed up. I had moved the feeding station close to my patio doors so she gets used to seeing both my Squeezle & us. She eats & then puts her paws on the glass to match his from the inside. I start talking to her and playing with her by tapping on the glass. She responds by rolling on her back & reaching for my fingers. I manage to open the glass to the screen. She starts to leave then comes back. I talk softly & she comes to the screen & smells my fingers. Doesn't run away like before. Progress!

We love elephants too! Although in the next set we'll be featuring a different tusked animal. Does anyone have a guess?

@Doug & Amanda: Very exciting ! My local shelter runs a spay/neuter van to Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital in Ephrata PA which is over an hour from my home. They took care of my Squeezle when it was time. They only go every other Wed as it's a full volunteer staff at the local humane. So I have to try to capture my little one on a Tuesday prior to a scheduled trip there. If things progress like they have been, I think that might happen by next week. She's a little cutie. Not a great photo but I was losing light. She hung around for over an hour. A first! :)

I threw the line in—"the Walrus was Paul"—just to confuse everybody a bit more. It could have been "the fox terrier is Paul." I mean, it's just a bit of poetry. I was having a laugh because there'd been so much gobbledygook about Pepper—play it backwards and you stand on your head and all that.[7]

Jim the Poet:

The Walrus and Karen Carpenter
A Poem By Jim the Poet read by Jim the Poet

The Walrus and Karen Carpenter
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
If this were only cleared away,'
They said, it would be grand!'

If seven rhombas
sucked it for half a year,
Do you suppose,' the Walrus said,
That they could get it clear?'
"Just like me, they long to be
close to you.' sang Karen Carpenter.

The Walrus and Karen Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.

The time has come,' the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of Oscars — and slaps — it's like a podcast —
Of cabbages — and kings —
And why the sea is boiling hot —
And whether pigs have wings.'

Karen Carpenter sang
"Hangin' around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down"
The night is fine,' the Walrus said.
Do you admire the view?

And Karen Carpenter sang "I'm on
Top of the World, looking down on creation"
The oysters were silent, just kind of looking at
each other, like is this real life
Like the kid in the youtube video
that had just been to the dentist

I weep for us,' the Walrus said:
I deeply sympathize.'
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

We've only just begun! To Love!" sang
Karen Carpenter,
And then she quietly played the drums
The walrus said nothing, he just knew
that they all had done too much LSD
And that this poem was done

You may enjoy this local walrus news from my region in western Sweden. International walrus Freja was found sunning herself on a pier in small coastal village Smögen. The scientist says she has been to coastal several towns around Netherlands and Denmark and is probably quite used to people and maybe even seeks them out. But that walrus are also huge and it's not a good idea to get close no matter how cuddly she looks. www.svt.se...
