I've been playing open mikes with guitar & vocal mikes. Soundpeople often can't get levels right, so there's hum. Most of them say I have to get a pickup attached to the guitar.

	2:18pm doctorjazz: My impressions of the Marathon CD is... Amazing! Not sure I had it on my radar originally, a definite after hearing some of it today!
	2:20pm Doug Schulkind: One of hardest things to do well in freeform radio is for your show to have its own "sound." Given the freedom and encouragement to playing anything (as we are on the stream and WFMU), it is easy to let your show morph into a pleasant mush. But the DJs who can constantly add new artists, genres, colors and textures to their playlists, while maintaining an identifiable sound are a true wonder. When you turn on the radio, you can pretty much peg that it's Irene's radio show you're hearing within the first five seconds, no matter what record she's spinning. It's remarkable and it's something I value deeply about Irene and her show. This level of mastery is worth pledging for! Pledge here: pledge.wfmu.org...

	2:18pm doctorjazz: My impressions of the Marathon CD is... Amazing! Not sure I had it on my radar originally, a definite after hearing some of it today!
	2:20pm Doug Schulkind: One of hardest things to do well in freeform radio is for your show to have its own "sound." Given the freedom and encouragement to playing anything (as we are on the stream and WFMU), it is easy to let your show morph into a pleasant mush. But the DJs who can constantly add new artists, genres, colors and textures to their playlists, while maintaining an identifiable sound are a true wonder. When you turn on the radio, you can pretty much peg that it's Irene's radio show you're hearing within the first five seconds, no matter what record she's spinning.
