Extra points for playing Van Der Graaf Generator! A pity their drummer did not make it to Finland, when they played here last October - thanks to Brexit, a UK passport older than 9 years & 9 months is not valid for travel to EU. Of course info about that legal quirk was not common knowledge but only available in "small print" online. They performed a smashing gig without drums as a keyboard duo. When there's a will there's a way.

The Sandy Denny BBC stuff is so strong, even if some of those sessions have survived as private off-air recordings only, you know via the "mic next to speaker" method, so sound quality is questionable on those ones and yet the music itself is just magical and her voice mesmerising.

Hi, Ross. I lived in the MN Rochester for a couple of years. It snowed lots there, too.

For Doomsday Machine, Elizabeth Rogers was brought in at the last minute after Nichelle Nichols (the series regular as communications officer Lt. Uhura) informed the producers that she was flying to New York for a concert performance. As Nichols had no standard contract she was legally free to do so, but Rogers' appearance was intended to convince her to keep herself available for Star Trek. Rogers said in a later interview, "I got the part when Uhura [Nichols] had a singing engagement. I was used as an instant 'threat' replacement."

Avatar 10:38pm

Yes Julie. Robert Walker Jr. did not associate with the cast in that episode because he wanted to maintain the character's awkwardness. I saw him in a depression era movie about bank robbers with Dick Clark as a criminal.

United Staes of America reminded me: Julie do you like the album 'An Electric Storm' by White Noise (basically BBC Radiophonic workshop people)? I think both USA & White Noise were strong influences for Broadcast, and they're not that dissimilar, though White Noise used very few if any conventional instruments, mainly sound effects to create the music. It's a killer album, I recently found a vintage copy on my Bauhaus-related visit to UK.

I believe it is a line from a James Brown song, which Doug then took for his radio show, he being the drummer, and then he named the stream after it.
