Hey Nick! Excited for the long show. I brought guac for everyone!
  Swag For Life Member 5:03pm
WR:

'allo 'allo. Let's see if the demographic reflects the earth rotation or the stream dilation.

Guac? Darn, where did those chips go.
  Swag For Life Member 5:05pm
WR:

Nick, are you still down south or back up north and evoking The Tropics?
Avatar 5:06pm
djnogoodnick:

Awesome!! I promise to do my best to justify those snacks by keeping a party atmosphere.
Avatar 5:06pm
djnogoodnick:

I'm still in Miami for three more weeks!! So tropical vibes will continue.
  5:09pm
fredr:

Greetings Nick! Nice to hear you at this time slot
  Swag For Life Member 5:09pm
WR:

Yes, level good.
Avatar 5:11pm
djnogoodnick:

TY! My friends were listening to archives and telling me I'm frequently incomprehensible on the mic.
Avatar 5:18pm
djnogoodnick:

Kinda fun to do this in daylight, although it is dusking.
  5:28pm
Theda:

Definitely dusking. Greetings, NoGood!
Avatar 5:29pm
Stork:

Hey DJ NG and 'niks!
Avatar 5:30pm
djnogoodnick:

Hi Theda! Glad you could join. And Hello fredr!! Nice to throw an early evening party again.
Avatar 5:32pm
djnogoodnick:

Hey Stork!! Great tail of your show that I caught. Love Gary Burton.
Avatar 5:34pm
Stork:

This show is a perfect follow-on for us day-drinkers, Nick.
Avatar 5:38pm
djnogoodnick:

Agreed, Stork! When I'm home and on here I don't usually drink more than bitters and soda, but I'm here for 4 hours and also on vacation, kinda, so bombs away with the wine spritzers.
  Swag For Life Member 5:58pm
WR:

Nick, what is your bitters of choice?
Avatar 6:00pm
djnogoodnick:

@WR Angostura, but I admit to not having a whole lot of experience trying different kinds of bitters. It's a thing I've been doing recently to cut down on hard alcohol.
Avatar 6:05pm
djnogoodnick:

It's actually a rather blustery and chilly Miami night.
Avatar 6:19pm
djnogoodnick:

It's interesting because you can leave the door open--there's no bite to the wind really--but you wouldn't want to sit outside right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
doctorjazz:

Great playoff game (PLEASE done let Brady win), overtime likely, will join when it ends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
doctorjazz:

Maybe no overtime...
Avatar 6:23pm
djnogoodnick:

Is Buffalo playing? I'm rooting for Buffalo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
doctorjazz:

4 seconds left, Rams beat Brady with a field goal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
doctorjazz:

Buffalo is next game 6:30 (against the Chiefs), this was Tampa Bay against Rams, Rams win, great game.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
doctorjazz:

I was just in "anyone but Brady" mode...
Avatar 6:28pm
djnogoodnick:

Oh I didn't know Brady played for Tampa Bay now. Guess that makes sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
doctorjazz:

New England let him go (last year, I think), which I'm sure they sirely regretted, as he's still been playing great.)
  Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
WR:

Ha. I should give Angostura a try. Several years ago, in a German restaurant, I had some bitters as an after dinner cocktail. I looked for what they served but was discouraged by the price. I didn't think of Angostura which I know because in my teen grocery store worker days it was in the section I stocked. Its familiarity made me overlook it when looking to match the nice bitters I had at the restaurant.

BTW, in this break, your voice is low compared to the backing track.
  6:35pm
Theda:

Sounding good, NoGood! And glad the footballs are coming out favorably! Will you be playing any of those Jorge Ben football-themed songs since the convo is going that way? hahah
Avatar 6:37pm
djnogoodnick:

Haha I turned down the volume on the wrong channel. Perils of drinking and deejaying.
Avatar 6:38pm
djnogoodnick:

@Theda No!! I thought about it but it's not even the right football.
  6:42pm
Theda:

Had to ask, and always enjoy Eugene McDaniels!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
doctorjazz:

OK, 1-2-3 MUSIC ON!!!!
(Lazy, will pick up a Grandma pie and bubble tea)
Avatar 6:45pm
djnogoodnick:

Yes, Theda! Love this deep cut. It feels Brazilian even if he isn't.
Avatar 6:52pm
djnogoodnick:

Sorry about that abrupt cut!
Avatar 6:54pm
HyperDose:

Let's go Buffalo! Let's go Buffalo!
Avatar 6:55pm
djnogoodnick:

Here Here!! Or whatever football fans say..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm
doctorjazz:

That's what Futbol grand day (Buffalo up last I heard).
Avatar 7:26pm
HyperDose:

That's a good air horn!
Avatar 7:27pm
djnogoodnick:

OK so I gotta admit, that echo on the track came out of nowhere and it took me some time to find it and turn it off. Crappy software. But I decided to make it sound intentional and added airhorn.
Avatar 7:28pm
djnogoodnick:

And now I'm having another Peroni Nastro Azzurro..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
Barry P.:

Lovin' the sounds, Nick.
Avatar 7:32pm
djnogoodnick:

Thanks Barry P.!! Doin a double slot today
Avatar 7:34pm
HyperDose:

Peroni is delicious
Avatar 7:36pm
djnogoodnick:

It's a great "goes with dinner" beer, which is why I bought it. But tonight I'm drinking it *for* dinner, at least until 9:00
  Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
WR:

Enjoying the 4 hour stretch show.
  Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
WR:

I hope it all makes it into the archive.
Avatar 7:59pm
djnogoodnick:

@WR Thank you! I just had a cigarette like a bad kid cause I needed a break of some sort. Don't often.
Avatar 8:00pm
djnogoodnick:

I don't see why it wouldn't but don't wanna jinx it. I don't record them because my computer will break if I try to stream and record at the same time.
Avatar 8:01pm
HyperDose:

Naughty Nick!
Avatar 8:02pm
djnogoodnick:

It's what I do when I'm a bar deejaying for four hours.
Avatar 8:03pm
djnogoodnick:

Except there I would have vinyl records which is much more stressful.
Avatar 8:07pm
HyperDose:

I have to hold my breath when I walk by someone smoking a cigarette. Now a joint on the other hand...
  8:08pm
Firebottle:

Just tuned in after listening to Gaylord... sound is not as loud as usual? By maybe half...
  8:09pm
taxon rascal:

We love Gal! <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
doctorjazz:

Cool set!
Avatar 8:11pm
djnogoodnick:

Me too. Gal, Caetano and Mutantes were my gateway to great Brazilian MPB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
doctorjazz:

Gaylord used to be on 8-10, no? I see he's been moved up (don't venture off the Drummer Stream much, need to get out some more)
Avatar 8:14pm
djnogoodnick:

@doctorjazz Thank you! Great to see you again. Gaylord was on at the same time as me when I did 5-6 on the Rock n Soul stream so he's been moved up for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
doctorjazz:

As I said, don't get around (the streams) much anymore...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm
doctorjazz:

I think at this point one could make a full time job out of keeping up with and listening to all the streams (now if only I could find someone who would pay for such a service...)
Avatar 8:31pm
djnogoodnick:

@doctorjazz I understand!! There are so many great new shows on the streams and then the iconic DJs. I unfortunately don't have time to listen much myself, preoccupied as I am with work and my own playlists. I really appreciate your regular tuning into Electric Lazy Susan!!
Avatar 8:36pm
HyperDose:

I think Ken from Hyde Park has us all beat. Definitely my vote for biggest WFMU fan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
doctorjazz:

Do enjoy the show, been here since about 6 (ate my Grandma pizza with you on, no commenting, hand and mouth full of goodness). You have an interesting (and different) take on jazz and other musics from the 70's and 80's than I do, which is good for me, get another vantage point on stuff that was going on while I was paying attention, but didn't note. (Global Grease (Kim Sorice) often also looks at much from the same period, with yet a third take/focus on other aspects of jazz and other musics from the time). Helps stretch my mind...(I was mostly focused on Avant Garde edgy stuff, missed a lot of other stuff. But, like the streams, no one can listen to everything (except maybe Doug Schuldkind...).
Anyway, thanks for the show tonight, gotta run (Chiefs are up 23-21 on the Bills, btw)
Avatar 8:48pm
djnogoodnick:

@doctorjazz Yeah I lean into jazz pop or even smooth jazz more than avant stuff.. came to it from that direction. Thanks and good night--Go Bills!!
Avatar 8:52pm
HyperDose:

I'm more of a smooth jazz guy too. Wish I dove into that genre more when I was younger. It's so vast!
Avatar 8:54pm
djnogoodnick:

@HyperDose There was a stigma attached to it haha. I only really started digging in the last few years.
Avatar 8:57pm
djnogoodnick:

And now I'm working on my Kenny G hair..
Avatar 8:57pm
HyperDose:

Growing out your hair is a fun hobby, but not for those who can't delay gratification!
Avatar 8:58pm
djnogoodnick:

It's all the perming that tries my patience!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
doctorjazz:

I was a jazz snob, learning that lots of stuff I didn't focus on was very cool (a wise man said, "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now").
Avatar 9:00pm
HyperDose:

haha keep us posted. Thanks for putting together such a fun show, Nick!
  9:01pm
Theda:

Congrats, Nick -- great vibe tonight!
  Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
WR:

Thank you Nick!
  Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
WR:

Yep, the 4 hours got archived. Thank you Nick and WFMU.
