So, did the Rabbi invite the Horse into his home? (Reminds me of the Sholom Aleichem tale-a man comes to his rabbi, tells him, Rabbi, I can't stand living in my house, it's so small, uncomfortable, I can't stand being there. The rabbi tells him, OK, go outside and bring all your cows in the house. The man comes back a week later, tells the Rabbi "it's much worse, cow poop, even more crowded, noisy, making me crazy", the rabbi says, "OK, now bring in the goats". A week later the man comes, distraught, tells the rabbi, "it's even worse, now the goat runs around goring things, eating the chairs, I'm even more upset than before". The rabbi says, "OK, now bring in the chickens". A week goes by, the man returns and tells the rabbi, "I don't think I can take too much more, it's awful in my house". The rabbi tells him, "OK, take all the animals out of the house, come back next week". The man returns in a week, says, "Rabbi, I just love my house, it's so comfortable, thanks for your help".
(sorry to go on a bit, but the rabbi and the horse, couldn't resist)

Franco, you big mush.

I am nothing if not a big ball of mush. Thank you for accepting me as I am, Franco!

"In 1959, [Freddy] Fender recorded the blues ballad "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights."[2] His self penned song was a hit,..."

I was working in record store in San Antonio TX when Johnny Rodriguez's first album was released in '73.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
WR:

Alright, Foodman, time for me to go get something to eat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Sam Segal:

Oh, good call, WR. I didn't realize Freddy Fender had hit so early. My chronology was way off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

Foodman is a straight up genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
zzz:

wow sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
Sam Segal:

"wow" is one of the great sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
zzz:

this is cool, reminds me of gerald cleaver’s ‘griots’
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Sam Segal:

Don't know that record, but I like Gerald Cleaver and any good fusion of electronic music and jazz (hard to pull off, but so good when done well).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
doctorjazz:

Gerald Cleaver is an interesting drummer (seen him live in a trio with Nels Cline and Larry Ochs (in a club, and in a house concert-man, will we ever be able to do that again?), and he barely seems to move. He seems to be barely playing, yet hits the sweet spot on the nose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
doctorjazz:

Don't know of this Steven Bernstein (big fan), very cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
zzz:

love everything SB does
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
Sam Segal:

I like this release a lot. He's a great arranger for this big band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
doctorjazz:

Most of the time, don't think of Between as a particularly "out" player. But I saw Sex Mob once, with guests Nels Cline and John Modeski on piano, and, man, that was quite an adventurous show (unfortunately, I brought my oldest daughter to what I expected would be light and fun. She didn't appreciate free improv). Nels probably was dominating and responsible for the sounds that night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
doctorjazz:

Is that the new Big Band album? There's a new Millennial Territory Orchestra album out (think I've ordered it, losing track...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
zzz:

whoa nels and medeski w/ sex mob, sounds wild. nels is another one who’s versatility i really enjoy (totally agree with was said on mic break about tyshawn sorey).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
Sam Segal:

Yes, it is the Millennial Territory Orchestra on that SB album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Ike:

Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
doctorjazz:

Sorry it's also terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

Nice show tonight, SS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

Ike! Glad you made it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
doctorjazz:

Almost over, went fast...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Sam Segal:

Thank you for allowing me access to your ears, Ignore Function!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
zzz:

i was actually just listening to the first millenial territory orchestra cd a couple weeks ago. in the liners bernstein talks about how they got their start playing friday night midnight sets at tonic, and then a few months later got a monday night dinner time set at jazz standard, which attracted a totally different crowd (talks about folks bringing their grandmas hah).
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
WR:

Man I am sure slow just making some ham & eggs.

Been listening all along. The electronic set flowed really nicely. This one is da bomb. three thumbs up👍 👍 👍
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm

I've been here for a while, actually! Thanks for the sounds.
