He idly asked Lou, “hey, are you guys buds?” The response from Lou (imagine extremely Lou Reed voice): “Buds??” My friend wasn’t really well informed, is my point, I guess. Hi.

	5:14pm Franco Twinkie: I saw Lou Reed at the Greek Theater the night the L.A. riots stated in'92. At one point, he said (imagine Lou's voice) "Sorry 'bout what's going on in your city." Rolling out of Griffith Park after the show, the entire place was in flames.

	🥁 5:28pm WR: Good choice cancelling NYC visit. Covid has spread faster than ever in the last week or so. The statistics don't reflect the actual picture, since it seems the omicron variant does seem to be not so bad (no body bag meat coolers next to the hospital yet) or the vaccinations have helped. They can't keep up with the demand for testing to have accurate numbers. 10 to 20 % of medical locations have closed or restricted hours due to no staff with so many people out with Covid. I've had my second (much less severe but still no fun) bout of Covid since Wednesday. Of course it is not "official". Didn't get tested. Tried three times to get tested. Spent aggregate of 5 hours standing outside in the cold before giving up. Would have been over 6 hours of the waiting in lines outside in the near freezing temperatures except one time I scored a take home rapid test. In my dulled state I skipped a step so my partner and my negative results were invalid. If we had got tested and the results positive the only difference in life would be having to deal with several calls from the city tracing team, calling regularly to see if we are alive and are isolating and asking series of questions for their statistics. I can't remember all the questions, just that they said it would take just a few minutes and it seemed to be half an hour... End rant...
	5:30pm LadyChanticleer: Ooof, I had COVID in January of last year. It was asymptomatic, but I certainly went to bed every night like "ahhhh, will I wake up!?"

	5:40pm Franco Twinkie: One time a friend and I went to hear Lou do a reading. In my naivete, I imagined he was going to read fiction and poetry, because his lyrics always hinted at so much more. We got properly whacked for the occasion and sat in the front row. Lou read the lyrics we all know so well with a scowl on his face - nothing more nothing less. I always wanted to believe he was holding back on us. Apparently not.
	🥁 5:41pm WR: @prguitar, you being in the guitar/music scene in NYC can you share any any insight to a phenomenon I experienced twice in person and have heard on a few NYC audience recordings. A bunch of people, mostly male from the sound, loudly and aggressively boo Lou. The first time I experienced it was when Lincoln Center did a week of Ornette Coleman. I didn't have the money to go every night. The night I went one of the sets was Ornette and Laurie Anderson. At one point Lou Reed was announced and as he came out on stage and until they started playing the boos and "Fuck Lou"shouts continued. I thought, well, maybe some Laurie Anderson or Ornette Coleman fans have a thing against Lou. Then it at one of his gigs there was a very vocal group of people that seemed to have come to the show just to harass him. Any insight?

	🥁 5:48pm WR: Franco @5:40, that was probably when Lou had the book come out that was touted as Lou's book of poetry and was all lyrics of recorded songs. There is recording floating around of him doing a reading around the time he had quit the VU and before he had got fully involved with Bowie / Mainman. The NY Public Library did an event which I watched online of Lou's sister and a couple other people reading some Lou Reed writings that were not from known songs. And they played some of the recording of that vintage reading done by him. The library published a chapbook of the writing. The recording of the vintage Lou reading they did not publish.

	6:25pm prguitar: WR - can't believe how fast Covid is spreading.. every day I hear of another friend that has come down with it. They've all been vaxed and most have been boosted as well.. it remains to be seen how much eventually shuts down.. i've had the vax shots and just got the booster.. have never been tested though.. as of late it's on my mind that we're all in the position to become ill.. no matter what additional precautions we take, short of isolating completely, which would be most awful at this point.. especially for those of us that live on our own.. In answer to your question, it is puzzling.. I've been to many performances where it's impossible to figure it out.. The disrespect often has no logical reason.. Similar to your observation, the only thing I can think of regarding Ornette's performance with Laurie Anderson, is that the guys booing were exclusively hardcore jazz and outside music/performance fans, and didn't appreciate Lou's music, or his appearance as a special guest.. or rock music in any form! That would be my theory if I had been in the audience.. There are assholes present at many shows.. usually seriously wasted, and at that point could care less about the music, or anyone else's reasons for being there .. It's really hard for me to tolerate that anymore..

	🥁 5:28pm WR: Good choice cancelling NYC visit. Covid has spread faster than ever in the last week or so. The statistics don't reflect the actual picture, since it seems the omicron variant does seem to be not so bad (no body bag meat coolers next to the hospital yet) or the vaccinations have helped. They can't keep up with the demand for testing to have accurate numbers. 10 to 20 % of medical locations have closed or restricted hours due to no staff with so many people out with Covid. I've had my second (much less severe but still no fun) bout of Covid since Wednesday. Of course it is not "official". Didn't get tested. Tried three times to get tested. Spent aggregate of 5 hours standing outside in the cold before giving up. Would have been over 6 hours of the waiting in lines outside in the near freezing temperatures except one time I scored a take home rapid test. In my dulled state I skipped a step so my partner and my negative results were invalid. If we had got tested and the results positive the only difference in life would be having to deal with several calls from the city tracing team, calling regularly to see if we are alive and are isolating and asking series of questions for their statistics. I can't remember all the questions, just that they said it would take just a few minutes and it seemed to be half an hour... End rant...

	5:40pm Franco Twinkie: One time a friend and I went to hear Lou do a reading. In my naivete, I imagined he was going to read fiction and poetry, because his lyrics always hinted at so much more. We got properly whacked for the occasion and sat in the front row. Lou read the lyrics we all know so well with a scowl on his face - nothing more nothing less. I always wanted to believe he was holding back on us. Apparently not.
	🥁 5:41pm WR: @prguitar, you being in the guitar/music scene in NYC can you share any any insight to a phenomenon I experienced twice in person and have heard on a few NYC audience recordings. A bunch of people, mostly male from the sound, loudly and aggressively boo Lou. The first time I experienced it was when Lincoln Center did a week of Ornette Coleman. I didn't have the money to go every night. The night I went one of the sets was Ornette and Laurie Anderson. At one point Lou Reed was announced and as he came out on stage and until they started playing the boos and "Fuck Lou"shouts continued. I thought, well, maybe some Laurie Anderson or Ornette Coleman fans have a thing against Lou. Then it at one of his gigs there was a very vocal group of people that seemed to have come to the show just to harass him. Any insight?

	🥁 5:48pm WR: Franco @5:40, that was probably when Lou had the book come out that was touted as Lou's book of poetry and was all lyrics of recorded songs. There is recording floating around of him doing a reading around the time he had quit the VU and before he had got fully involved with Bowie / Mainman. The NY Public Library did an event which I watched online of Lou's sister and a couple other people reading some Lou Reed writings that were not from known songs. And they played some of the recording of that vintage reading done by him. The library published a chapbook of the writing. The recording of the vintage Lou reading they did not publish.

They've all been vaxed and most have been boosted as well.. it remains to be seen how much eventually shuts down.. i've had the vax shots and just got the booster.. have never been tested though.. as of late it's on my mind that we're all in the position to become ill.. no matter what additional precautions we take, short of isolating completely, which would be most awful at this point.. especially for those of us that live on our own.. In answer to your question, it is puzzling.. I've been to many performances where it's impossible to figure it out.. The disrespect often has no logical reason.. Similar to your observation, the only thing I can think of regarding Ornette's performance with Laurie Anderson, is that the guys booing were exclusively hardcore jazz and outside music/performance fans, and didn't appreciate Lou's music, or his appearance as a special guest.. or rock music in any form! That would be my theory if I had been in the audience.. There are assholes present at many shows.. usually seriously wasted, and at that point could care less about the music, or anyone else's reasons for being there .. It's really hard for me to tolerate that anymore..
