	3:11pm alanr: It's a complex matter, but, yes, it did put him on the map, instead of a smaller career whose music gained fame from others who performed his songs like Linda. So, i'll rollback my comment a bit....just a bit.

	3:15pm Erica: December is truly the month of the Monkees. With the passing of Mike Nesmith and the fact that Dec. 30 is the birthday of the late Nesmith and Davy Jones, it's been nothing but Monkees for me.

	3:20pm Funky16Corners: I was discussing Davy with some friends this weekend, mainly about how underestimated he is.
	3:20pm Erica: I believe the Monkees' version of Mary Mary came out a year before Paul Butterfield Blues Band version, or around the same time Larry.
	🥁 3:21pm Brian in UK: In this country it was one of the first fanzines, Zigzag, that promoted his and John Stewart's talents. Saw them both at Zigzag's fifth anniversary concert in 1974. Nesmith & Red Rhodes. Great.
	3:22pm Funky16Corners: @Erica - From the Wiki - "Mary, Mary" is a song written by Michael Nesmith and first recorded by the Paul Butterfield Blues Band for their 1966 album, East-West. Nesmith's band, the Monkees, later recorded it for More of the Monkees (1967).

Even with the "satire" context...some of it was vile, no holds barred, in sexual matters, racial matters.

	4:55pm Gerry from Miami: The once-and-famous Willard Waterman as the Great Gildersleeve. When I was a kid, my local TV station in Miami used to broadcast old episodes on Sunday mornings, right after a religious program, "Lamp Unto My Feet."
	4:55pm StringOFperils: Nat Lamp really wasn't worth the paper it was printed on , once it ceased being offensive, transgressive, and wrong. That was its core purpose.
