Oh my goodness. She has personality and she dares to exhibit it in public? Scandalous! I must hear this! For the sake of the children and women and the sensitive everywhere.

Ah, found the link: www.jazzage1920s.com...

WR:

From the recordings you previously played and the Wikipedia entry for Ms. Muggeridge I had thought that she was simply an English woman who made her success based on African American female blues imitations and variations but interesting to hear he do a variety of dialect songs. The Irish O'Flynn, the Scandinavia tune.

For this episode I've merely chosen for the earliest recordings I could find. There is a part two on the way, somewhere next year.

Hi and thank you, Stanley!

Her life story would make an interesting movie, going up to WW2 and post her possible flirtation with the Duke of Windsor.

Jan Turkenburg:

I agree WR.

Murray was about 14 years older than Stanley. Originally I had thought her of younger generation than him, but not so much. Also, since she started performers at a very early age, she would have seen the appearance of African American music into the American mainstream from the very beginning.
