Love that Richard Trythall piece!
In the early days of the interwebs, I looked him up and landed on his academic page where he was a professor or some sort. I emailed him and told him how much I loved that piece and asked him about it and got a really nice thoughtful reply.

Rich in Washington:

He's the brother of Gil Trythall, an electronic music pioneer who also did both of those goofy Nashville Moog records.
Avatar 5:28pm
Mr Fab:

Ha! Yes, Cheree, this is Cage.

don't know if Laurie Anderson has ever specifically cited "Indeterminacy," but her spoken-word approach certainly seems heavily influenced by it (minus the Zen influence).
Avatar 5:28pm
Kitten Sparkles:

I agree, Mr Dab! That'ss kinda why I'veen playing these Golden Oldies of Avant
Avatar 5:29pm
Mr Fab:

That's great, Rich, yeah "Omaggio a Jerry Lee Lewis" is right up there with the earliest examples of "sampling" musics ever.

Whoa! You were Toddler Sparkles back then!
Avatar 5:36pm
Mr Fab:

Kitten, maybe you were called a 'pylon' for the same reason the Athens GA band chose that name - "... because it is severe, industrial, monolithic, functional."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm

at this time of year, Goodwills start putting out Xmas records and I almost never look through them, except this year I did and found no less than three MSR Records christmas comps.

No, Fab. Sadly, they're all sung by The Sisterhood (MSR's all female quartet) but there are still some pretty bonkers ones on them.
Avatar 7:57pm
Mr Fab:

the crucial "The American Song-Poem Christmas" album features only 4 songs by The Sisterhood. So that's all I got. But one is the dandy "Rocking Disco Santa Claus."
