	11:13am Jeff: Traffic’s in my top 5. I kept missing opportunities to see them at Fillmore East (esp that bill w/Fairport). Finally, got another chance when they played the Academy of Music in ‘74. It was not easy getting to the show. Had to hitch a ride from upstate where I was at college. Lindisfarne opened, and Traffic was a quartet. They were very loose and free form. Maybe, a little too loose - Chris Wood fell flat on his face. Just made the last bus back to New Paltz. No way I was going to show up at my family’s apt in Bklyn. They thought I was safe and sound in my dorm room.

	11:22am Jeff: I got another Traffic (sorta) story. I went to the Bottom Line to see Mason/Capaldi, and Steve Winwood is sitting at a table. Mason kept asking him to come up on stage. I could see that Winwood was not into it. He finally gave up and joined them on stage. After a little huddle, they did Gimme Some Lovin’ and Low Spark. I think Steve deliberately didn’t want to do any Mason era Traffic tunes given their history.

	11:26am Jeff: Funny thing is that Mason did a tour he called Traffic Jam, and he barely did any Traffic he was involved with (except Feelin’ Alright and, maybe, Dear Mr Fantast). Instead, he performed a lot of tunes from John Barleycorn and Low Spark. I thought that was absolutely bizarre!

	11:28am dan: I saw Steve Winwood and Dave Mason in separate concerts in the same summer. Both were amazing experiences. Winwood did a 3 hour extravaganza with an intermission, Mason opened for Eric Burdon and the Animals (coincidentally mentioned them earlier)

	11:29am doctorjazz: @dan-Thompson played a number of outdoor shows during the summer outdoor concert season, none of which I could make. Have seen him a number of times, solo, with band, not sure what the show will be tonight (not long before the Pandemic, I saw him at the old City Winery, where he did a solo all request show, where he had baskets on each table, and the audience was encouraged to put 2 requests on a slip or paper. He almost pulled off a solo "And Your Birds Can Sing", valiant effort (and a really fun show).

	11:31am Gerry from Miami: Mornin' to BOB and PT! As you both know, Dave Mason was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic, even though he only played on their first album. Do you think he would have deserved the invite as a solo artist without his early connection to the band?

	11:38am Jeff: I think Mason was on the first two Traffic albums (even though he’s not pictured on the US release). He also rejoined for Welcome to the Canteen. He’s best work was with Traffic and Alone Together. Also, a pivotal figure w/others (Hendrix, Delaney and Bonnie, Derek and the Dominos, etc).

	11:45am dan: I saw Spencer Davis Group on a 60s revue bill with The Zombies and The Yardbirds. It was half old songs, half new material. Seemed very tired at times.
	11:45am Franco Twinkie: I liked cross fades! bouncing the signal from channel to channel was a cheese ball effect for sure, but strangely, it was equal to a lot of the material at the time.

	11:50am WR: That Steve Winwood had collaborations with Vivian Stanshall was happily unexpected to me (not expecting you to include any, just mentioning it.)
	11:50am dan: In 2002 when I was 12, I was walking in my local Best Buy. You'd think I was there to buy the new Avril Lavigne record, but no, it was John Barelycorn Must Die. When I first heard the opening notes on Glad, I knew this was going to be a lifelong favorite.
	11:50am TDK60: Barleycorn is such a cool work. Jazz-rock feel, except for the folky title track.
	🥁 11:51am PT: @Jeff: Jimmy Miller was from this area for sure, somehow I'm thinking NJ? His sister was journalist Judith Miller, journalist who wrote some dodgy stories involving the Iraq War. Sorry for the non-Traffic factoid.

	12:01pm Jeff: Steve Winwood + Jack Bruce are my two fav British musicians. I’d buy any record that either had anything to do with (back when I was buying records). The only regret was a Fania All Stars LP w/Stevie that I bought in the ‘70s. It should’ve been great. I’m a fan of salsa. The record was ruined by horrible disco string arrangements by Gene Page (I think that was his name). One of the few records that I hated so much that I traded it in.

They also recorded a couple of BBC sessions that Bob and I didn't think were up to snuff for this show. We have very high standards, you know!

	🥁 1:33pm PT: @PeterT (the Seattle one): I believe you remember correctly (not that I would doubt someone with your track record for recall!) Grech (né Grechko) toured with Traffic throughout 1970. There's an unreleased live album from FE, recorded late 70, and they're a 4-piece then. And of course, Grech stuck around for Low Spark.

He was fired as he didn't learn his part and Rivera said, "Never once came prepared (...) and anytime things were right, he'd puff his chest up like he did everything". He was fired after Ringo asked the band if he should be fired↩

	11:13am Jeff: Traffic’s in my top 5. I kept missing opportunities to see them at Fillmore East (esp that bill w/Fairport). Finally, got another chance when they played the Academy of Music in ‘74. It was not easy getting to the show. Had to hitch a ride from upstate where I was at college. Lindisfarne opened, and Traffic was a quartet. They were very loose and free form. Maybe, a little too loose - Chris Wood fell flat on his face. Just made the last bus back to New Paltz. No way I was going to show up at my family’s apt in Bklyn. They thought I was safe and sound in my dorm room.

	11:22am Jeff: I got another Traffic (sorta) story. I went to the Bottom Line to see Mason/Capaldi, and Steve Winwood is sitting at a table. Mason kept asking him to come up on stage. I could see that Winwood was not into it. He finally gave up and joined them on stage. After a little huddle, they did Gimme Some Lovin’ and Low Spark. I think Steve deliberately didn’t want to do any Mason era Traffic tunes given their history.

	11:26am Jeff: Funny thing is that Mason did a tour he called Traffic Jam, and he barely did any Traffic he was involved with (except Feelin’ Alright and, maybe, Dear Mr Fantast). Instead, he performed a lot of tunes from John Barleycorn and Low Spark. I thought that was absolutely bizarre!

	11:28am dan: I saw Steve Winwood and Dave Mason in separate concerts in the same summer. Both were amazing experiences. Winwood did a 3 hour extravaganza with an intermission, Mason opened for Eric Burdon and the Animals (coincidentally mentioned them earlier)

	11:29am doctorjazz: @dan-Thompson played a number of outdoor shows during the summer outdoor concert season, none of which I could make. Have seen him a number of times, solo, with band, not sure what the show will be tonight (not long before the Pandemic, I saw him at the old City Winery, where he did a solo all request show, where he had baskets on each table, and the audience was encouraged to put 2 requests on a slip or paper. He almost pulled off a solo "And Your Birds Can Sing", valiant effort (and a really fun show).

	11:31am Gerry from Miami: Mornin' to BOB and PT! As you both know, Dave Mason was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic, even though he only played on their first album. Do you think he would have deserved the invite as a solo artist without his early connection to the band?

	11:38am Jeff: I think Mason was on the first two Traffic albums (even though he’s not pictured on the US release). He also rejoined for Welcome to the Canteen. He’s best work was with Traffic and Alone Together. Also, a pivotal figure w/others (Hendrix, Delaney and Bonnie, Derek and the Dominos, etc).

	11:45am dan: I saw Spencer Davis Group on a 60s revue bill with The Zombies and The Yardbirds. It was half old songs, half new material. Seemed very tired at times.

	11:50am WR: That Steve Winwood had collaborations with Vivian Stanshall was happily unexpected to me (not expecting you to include any, just mentioning it.)
	11:50am dan: In 2002 when I was 12, I was walking in my local Best Buy. You'd think I was there to buy the new Avril Lavigne record, but no, it was John Barelycorn Must Die. When I first heard the opening notes on Glad, I knew this was going to be a lifelong favorite.
	11:50am TDK60: Barleycorn is such a cool work. Jazz-rock feel, except for the folky title track.

	12:01pm Jeff: Steve Winwood + Jack Bruce are my two fav British musicians. I’d buy any record that either had anything to do with (back when I was buying records). The only regret was a Fania All Stars LP w/Stevie that I bought in the ‘70s. It should’ve been great. I’m a fan of salsa. The record was ruined by horrible disco string arrangements by Gene Page (I think that was his name). One of the few records that I hated so much that I traded it in.

There's an unreleased live album from FE, recorded late 70, and they're a 4-piece then. And of course, Grech stuck around for Low Spark.
