The Geordie Approach is 2 Norwegians and a Geordie. They met in Leeds and play improvised music. They have been doing it since the early 00s. The name? A stupid comment about the correct volume to operate amplifiers (loud enough to disrupt all surrounding activity and stimulate acts of desperate violence) that became a kind of mantra to how the band would approach its performances and recordings.

	10:26am Jeff Golick: I think a version more typically reviews to a dub version of a tune, using the same rhythm but messing with (or eliminating) the vocals.

	10:30am DJpeterDE: @jeff Yeah that makes more sense for all the Scratch Perry “versions.” So a “remix” is the same vocal but different backing, and a “version” is typically the reverse?
	10:30am Listener Robert: I think it's the rise of the singer-songwriter (or performers-composers) in the 20th Century that popularized the concept of the "cover" as distinct from what THEY were doing. Cf. Leonard Bernstein's attempt to define classical music as "exact" (i.e. composer-specified) music.

Four notable funky jazz versions of “Rock Steady” performed by arranger Julius Brockington; organ player, Johnny Hammond; jazz musician, Frank Owens and Charles Keynard, a jazz musician, speaks to the song’s relevance in the world of music beyond what could be considered its niche audience.

The Geordie Approach is 2 Norwegians and a Geordie. They met in Leeds and play improvised music. They have been doing it since the early 00s. The name? A stupid comment about the correct volume to operate amplifiers (loud enough to disrupt all surrounding activity and stimulate acts of desperate violence) that became a kind of mantra to how the band would approach its performances and recordings.

	10:30am DJpeterDE: @jeff Yeah that makes more sense for all the Scratch Perry “versions.” So a “remix” is the same vocal but different backing, and a “version” is typically the reverse?
	10:30am Listener Robert: I think it's the rise of the singer-songwriter (or performers-composers) in the 20th Century that popularized the concept of the "cover" as distinct from what THEY were doing. Cf. Leonard Bernstein's attempt to define classical music as "exact" (i.e. composer-specified) music.
