	12:18pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: @HH LOL reminds me...in my old building, my downstairs neighbor (now one of my best friends) had/still has a beagle. This one dude who lived in a run-down brownstone across the street from our building had unsteady employment and he was running an illegal doggie and kitty day care out of his place (and he had backyard access and like a 3-bedroom). He had 4 dogs of his own. My friend had a sweet arrangement for daycare for her dog every day, and even overnights if need be as her dog got along with all of his dogs. So, one night, this guy has an informal party at his place...and there are something like 25 people. 12 dogs of varying sizes and temperments, and at least 9 cats that I could see; no doubt other critters were hiding. It was a pretty interesting night.

	12:19pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: And yeah we did bring her dog. Other people brought in pizzas, entire trays of lasagna, etc. You could barely get a plate of food without having SOME critter stick its snoot in it trying to sniff/taste.
	12:20pm Handy Haversack: Reminds me of some of the bars around here before some a-hole at the Post published a "Ten Best Bars in Brooklyn to Bring Your Dog to" listicle and they were all raided by the health department.

My Harvey who is a master safecracker and and expert in breaking and entering, loves to pull open the sock drawer and remove ALL the socks contained therein. His sister Pooka will watch, but never copies him. She does play with old unmatched socks that were handed down to her.

	12:26pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: @HH yep RE article that ruined things for us. Used to be a bunch of places in Astoria that were really dog-friendly also. @KrysO--when my Mom catsat for my bro's cat for 4 months, she made a habit of figuring out how to open any cabinet door that she came across. She especially loved the lower-level kitchen cabinets that had Mom's "good/for company placemats and cloth napkins." She would pull everything out and make a little nest. One time we also didn't fully snap shut the accordian doors to the hall coat closets. She climbed up to the top shelf, using coats as grappling, and had fun in the stored stacks of hats/gloves/scarves. Of COURSE she found THE most expensive scarf thing--a handmade, white-and-silver angora and cashmere thing that I had gotten Mom as a gift--to pull down to the floor and snooze on for the night.
	12:26pm Handy Haversack: From the nearby floor, Krys. I think they played with them overnight and lost them under the furniture. (And clutter.) When Callipygian was young, she would somehow open K8's underwear drawer and festoon the room with panties. No idea how a five-pound cat could get that thing open. Rev., have faith! I have enjoyed carrot cake several times, even in the presence of this faithful hound!

	12:28pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: Bro's cat never figured out drawers. OTOH she DID manage to get into the open washing machine, whose lid snapped shut when she jumped in. She was super unhappy as we were out for a bit and came home to piteous yowling from the general direction of the laundry nook. She only did that once.

	12:31pm Krys O.: Ah, I have had to use child-proof locks on my cabinets and the fridge. Harvey will open that too and then sit and admire his work while the food spoils. I learned that from past experience. I also had to get hook/eye locks for louver-style closet doors in a previous apartment. Harv still bangs on these locked doors on the off chance that the lock will fail. I just have to say, "Excuse me?!" and he stops the banging.

	1:01pm Krys O.: I err on the side of caution and have no plants in my apartment. I know Harvey would climb them or dig in the dirt at the very least. Haven't had an Xmas tree for many decades. A previous cat I had loved to chew on a snake plant. I thought something was wrong with the plant until I saw Rikki chewing on the leaves. Thank goodness it wasn't poisonous. I subsequently learned that Rikki also loved to eat lettuce, especially Romaine.

	1:03pm Handy Haversack: Cheers, Stanley! My man in Newington went a little wild at the SMWS last week for his bday, Stanley. A Royal Brackla, a Glen Athol, and a Clynelish. Kittens can have catnip? They don't have to be eighteen in cat years or anything? chresti, I love that idea. I am going to find such! "Cat grass," right?

	1:07pm Krys O.: I think the percentage of cats that are amenable to catnip is around 50-60%. It's hit or miss. The quality of the 'nip is key also.

	1:13pm Handy Haversack: We have doubled the amount of time in our schedules for printing and binding, Krys. Big delays at the printer, mainly because of paper shortages caused by Amazon.

	1:33pm Krys O.: Actually, Handy, the paper shortage is due to a number of factors including one of the largest pulp mills switching to manufacturing cardboard as it is more profitable. That and transportation delays for imports. I got that info from a supplier. I work at an industrial printing company. We have been dealing with material shortages on paper and synthetics. Don't hear much about a connection to Amazon for that.
	1:34pm chresti: The porch cats seem to like the neighbors grass for their morning movements. We don't have grass, a lot of leaves though.
	1:36pm Ike: @Krys@1:30, ah, there's an idea. I bought some "Korean" red pepper powder to make kimchi and it turned out to be completely tasteless (it's made in China) so maybe I can give it to a gardener. Though if it has no spice, will it actually repel anything? Hmm.
	1:36pm Handy Haversack: Krys, as I understand, the mill's converting from paper to cardboard is largely fueled by e-commerce packaging demand? At least that's the scuttlebutt I've heard around the industry. Ike, I got some nice Korean red pepper powder at that market in Greenpoint.

	12:18pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: @HH LOL reminds me...in my old building, my downstairs neighbor (now one of my best friends) had/still has a beagle. This one dude who lived in a run-down brownstone across the street from our building had unsteady employment and he was running an illegal doggie and kitty day care out of his place (and he had backyard access and like a 3-bedroom). He had 4 dogs of his own. My friend had a sweet arrangement for daycare for her dog every day, and even overnights if need be as her dog got along with all of his dogs. So, one night, this guy has an informal party at his place...and there are something like 25 people. 12 dogs of varying sizes and temperments, and at least 9 cats that I could see; no doubt other critters were hiding. It was a pretty interesting night.

	12:19pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: And yeah we did bring her dog. Other people brought in pizzas, entire trays of lasagna, etc. You could barely get a plate of food without having SOME critter stick its snoot in it trying to sniff/taste.

My Harvey who is a master safecracker and and expert in breaking and entering, loves to pull open the sock drawer and remove ALL the socks contained therein. His sister Pooka will watch, but never copies him. She does play with old unmatched socks that were handed down to her.

Used to be a bunch of places in Astoria that were really dog-friendly also. @KrysO--when my Mom catsat for my bro's cat for 4 months, she made a habit of figuring out how to open any cabinet door that she came across. She especially loved the lower-level kitchen cabinets that had Mom's "good/for company placemats and cloth napkins." She would pull everything out and make a little nest. One time we also didn't fully snap shut the accordian doors to the hall coat closets. She climbed up to the top shelf, using coats as grappling, and had fun in the stored stacks of hats/gloves/scarves. Of COURSE she found THE most expensive scarf thing--a handmade, white-and-silver angora and cashmere thing that I had gotten Mom as a gift--to pull down to the floor and snooze on for the night.
	12:26pm Handy Haversack: From the nearby floor, Krys. I think they played with them overnight and lost them under the furniture. (And clutter.) When Callipygian was young, she would somehow open K8's underwear drawer and festoon the room with panties. No idea how a five-pound cat could get that thing open. Rev., have faith! I have enjoyed carrot cake several times, even in the presence of this faithful hound!

She was super unhappy as we were out for a bit and came home to piteous yowling from the general direction of the laundry nook. She only did that once.

	12:31pm Krys O.: Ah, I have had to use child-proof locks on my cabinets and the fridge. Harvey will open that too and then sit and admire his work while the food spoils. I learned that from past experience. I also had to get hook/eye locks for louver-style closet doors in a previous apartment. Harv still bangs on these locked doors on the off chance that the lock will fail. I just have to say, "Excuse me?!" and he stops the banging.

A previous cat I had loved to chew on a snake plant. I thought something was wrong with the plant until I saw Rikki chewing on the leaves. Thank goodness it wasn't poisonous. I subsequently learned that Rikki also loved to eat lettuce, especially Romaine.

	1:33pm Krys O.: Actually, Handy, the paper shortage is due to a number of factors including one of the largest pulp mills switching to manufacturing cardboard as it is more profitable. That and transportation delays for imports. I got that info from a supplier. I work at an industrial printing company. We have been dealing with material shortages on paper and synthetics. Don't hear much about a connection to Amazon for that.
