If they're anything like American budget labels, they would have been sold as impulse buys near checkout stands in places like drugstores, selling for less then the real records, luring in the not-so-sophisticated. The almost-porn covers probably helped sell a few copies too, eh?

	12:50pm Mr Fab: K-Tel in US/Canada did feature "Original Hits by the Original artists!," not remakes, tho as SOp pointed out, they would cram way too many tracks on to one side. To make them fit, some times they would abruptly fade down some tracks, to my annoyance.

From 1968 till 1985 (then) anonymous British studio musicians had to buy their own copy of hit records and reproduce them in studio having limited time. The results were compiled by Pickwick records on budget LPs named Top of the Pops, having nothing to do with the popular TV program of the BBC that just simply had forgotten to trade-mark the name. In this episode you'll hear the alternative versions of hits from artists like David Bowie, The Sweet, The Osmonds, Slade, The Rubettes, T-Rex, 10CC, ELO, etc...
