	3:29pm TDK60: I read about one of the Isley's first listen with Experience. He thought it was a joke. Then listened again and again, blown away.
	3:29pm Erica: Speaking of Hendrix, I had a guidance counselor who looked like a hippie and once mentioned to a student who had an afro that he had hair like Jimi Hendrix lol.

	🥁 3:30pm David Shortell: It's from the 1967 album "Winds of Change" by Eric Burdon and the Animals--the debut LP from that new group. The hit "San Franciscan Nights" was also on it.

	3:32pm TDK60: I also saw some Isley LP back cover (or was it one of those unofficial Jimi ones?). Story: The Isleys played Jamaica. During an intermission Jimi snuck out, was playing feedback improv to the audience. One of the Isleys came out, realized Jimi was Ahead.

	3:33pm Funky16Corners: @TDK60 - There were a number of anecdotes about Hendrix getting fired from bands for flashy playing.
	3:34pm TDK60: Marie -your assumption is correct although possibly an understatement! Hee.
	3:34pm Funky16Corners: I have yet to find a really good book about Hendrix, that takes his music making into account as much as his clothes and girlfriends
	3:35pm Marie: Yeah, no surprise TDK, based just on pieces of footage I have seen and heard here and there
	3:35pm TDK60: Funky and that's a damn shame. Rock hagiography gets in the way, and that Haze too.

	3:36pm TDK60: This is simply a devastating song.
	3:38pm Funky16Corners: @Marie - The history of rock critics basically ignoring/denying Hendrix's blackness, and the importance of black music to his musical development needs to be remedied.

I was so impressed that he could play something so seemingly simple; especially as I am not an electric guitar fan, unless played by an African.

	4:08pm Mike Sin: I still think the major unsung hero of the Jimi Hendrix story is Chas Chandler. It's amazing to see what Jimi was up to throughout 1966 in and around NYC, but once Chas gets his to London, there is no wasting time. Chas really had the vision here. He really didn't sit on hands with any aspect of launching the Experience. Many years ago, Mojo mag did a day-by-day account of Hendrix's moves once he landed in London in late 1966 culminating with his Monterey performance in June 1967 -- it really was an incredible string of events.

I remember a Dylan interview (don't remember from where) and Dylan was basically trashing musicians that covered other musicians songs, mainly his songs. The interviewer asked Dylan what he thought of Jimi covering All Along the Watchtower. To which Dylan replied that was an exception. . . that Jimi had more right to play the song than he himself did haha

	3:32pm TDK60: I also saw some Isley LP back cover (or was it one of those unofficial Jimi ones?). Story: The Isleys played Jamaica. During an intermission Jimi snuck out, was playing feedback improv to the audience. One of the Isleys came out, realized Jimi was Ahead.

	4:08pm Mike Sin: I still think the major unsung hero of the Jimi Hendrix story is Chas Chandler. It's amazing to see what Jimi was up to throughout 1966 in and around NYC, but once Chas gets his to London, there is no wasting time. Chas really had the vision here. He really didn't sit on hands with any aspect of launching the Experience. Many years ago, Mojo mag did a day-by-day account of Hendrix's moves once he landed in London in late 1966 culminating with his Monterey performance in June 1967 -- it really was an incredible string of events.

The interviewer asked Dylan what he thought of Jimi covering All Along the Watchtower. To which Dylan replied that was an exception. . . that Jimi had more right to play the song than he himself did haha
