We have beavers in Scotland - conservationists are reintroducing, but fighting with landowners, who want to exterminate, rather than move them. I’m on the conservation side.

Could it be a Barred Owl if it's a wild bird? Where was it recorded?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am

Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn - near Fulton Street
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
PaulRobeson1920:

That beaver in Jim’s drawing is missing their top hat!
The tail is spot on, very beaver like!
  7:36am
Rob fom Maryland:

@Amanda, are there a lot of trees anywhere nearby?
  7:37am
Jersey Jim:

Bad Animal wasp update from NJ:. The venom and itching is gone a week after my encounter with a few yellow jackets protecting their ground nest. Then i discovered a soccer ball sized hornets nest hanging off edge of roof on 2nd story when cleaning gutters. No stings this time.. i think hornets are mellower
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am
Amanda:

Yes, it was in a backyard in an area with a lot of backyards with trees. So, fairly sparse but there are trees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
dale:

paper wasp nests are beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am
Amanda:

@Rob I think barred owl is a good guess! It was kind of a whooping sound. Was during the day, though
  7:42am
Rob fom Maryland:

@Amanda, thanks! Maybe (maaaaybe) a Barred Owl if it's a wild bird? I should probably listen to the calls again but I don't want you to play them again and we're getting ready to head out
  7:42am
Toothgrinder Tom:

There was an article in the paper here about the beavers in Scotland and the enmity of the farmers towards them. Also in the southern Midwest of the US black vultures are terrorizing newborn calves and other livestock but the farmers’ hands are tied because apparently black vultures are a protected species?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am
PaulRobeson1920:

There is that beaver! Cute

Nice pants
  7:44am
Rob fom Maryland:

I have heard Barred Owls along the C&O Canal near the Potomac River west of DC calling at different random times of day so they can call during the day if in good habitat
  7:44am
Jersey Jim:

@dale, this paper nest looked like it was woven with alternating layers of tan and light brown fiber

  7:47am

There is a cosmic butterfly before the eye. An astral dragonfly before the ear. Terrestrial maggots in the brain.
