The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
Barbara Lewis: voice like silk! For a nice interview with barbara and legendary Jack Armstrong of WKYC, check this out after the show: www.rollyestream.net...
Good evening Gaylord! Some great stuff right out of the gate to start us off. Fantastic to see you & the Mrs yesterday so nice to be able to tune in tonite.
Thank you God ( if you exist ) for this weather, It's been splendid the last two days, but I hope everyone in the path of Ida makes it thru allright

Is there anything better than Gaylord on a Sunday night? Yes. Gaylord on a Sunday night with a beautiful sunset outside with your spouse (sappy but not not sorry)
The worst part (for us) about the fires is the constant buzz of aircraft over the homestead from the nearby airfield. They’re doing the Lord’s work, but it can rattle the teeth.
Track a real study in how all the elements can come together for a very particular expression & effect. Almost sticks a toe into my allergy to overplayed mainstream 1970s Hits...

Eric Stewart recorded 256 voices per channel. He said they didn’t use synths.
...I mean - lyrically - it's almost nothing. Not a stellar melody - but a good one. It's everything else - & someone had to think that up & execute it...
First thing you learn when layering overdubs / tracks over each other is that if you don't have it very Arranged you're just adding layers of noise or mud...
I'm feeling very, very Good Gaylord Excellent show tonight, as always

Hi, Gaylord! Hey, all! Tonight’s show has been guiding us home from another beaut of a day at the beach. Thunderstorms chased us all the way home. Highlight of the show (of many) was the start of the second set when I thought the windshield wipers were making a beautiful musical racket when in fact they were in perfect sync with the music! Great tonight. Thanks!!
