@WWR That wonderful band I found when looking for a mystery song in the Acid Archive compen dium. There's some... interesting stuff out there. Interestingly looking up one of the albums that sounded wild lead me to your blog.

We had it here, too, Jan. Sunday was absolutely torrential. We even had a geyser in Hammersmith as a result:

Wow, David, I didn't know that was even possible!

How could the water have become so pressurized? It would have to come from that height uphill at least, if from gravity alone. However, in that picture I see what appears to be fire near it. Could there have been a methane-air explosion driving it?

Ursula1000:

Feld---I had a pair of Technics 1200s that FINALLY needed repair after....25 years! What a work horse those things are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am
David (in London):

Hey Feldpausch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am
Jan Turkenburg:

I still have the turntable I bought when i was 16. Of course needles need to be replaced and it has needed some minor repairs over the years, but was able to do those myself. Try to imagine where our computers and phones will be in 40 years...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am
fred:

I'm a dev, and I spend more and more of my time just keeping stuff working, instead of writing new stuff. Apple is the main culprit there, by far. Don't trust computers at all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am
spodiodi:

scrapple ftw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am
Feldpausch:

Ursula1000, I wish I was at Tiki Oasis! I have some friends there but I couldn't make it. I'm glad I still get to hear your set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am
Feldpausch:

Yes U1K & Jan, those old tools will outlive all the Apple products by a long shot. No 'planned obsolescence' in a good ol' tube amp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Ursula1000!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am
Feldpausch:

Ursula1k, that's good mileage! It's like how so many musicians use all the 1960's gear they can get their hands on. It's built right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am
fred:

@Feldpausch: "planned obsolescence" were the good old days. Now it's "enforced obsolescence" whenever Apple needs more money (hint: often), but it's for your own good and for "security reasons"
  Swag For Life Member 11:20am
WR:

Hello Jan and thosr over / under
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am
Jan Turkenburg:

WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am
Feldpausch:

@fred, you're absolutely right about that. They have billions in liquid assets but they need money bad, so yeah like clockwork they flip the switch and our gear get borked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am
spodiodi:

hello WR
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am
David (in London):

Fred, I recently re-discovered my first 80s portable personal cassette player (a Sanyo M4440). It was so well made. In went the batteries, and now I'm back to listening to it at home. Feels good to give it a second lease of life 38 years later...
  Swag For Life Member 11:27am
WR:

Well put Fred. Tech based companies are attempting to replicate the success of from zero to pervasive by making everything subscription base and every two year hardware "refresh". I am still shocked that HP would not sell an extension to the 1 year warranty on laptop I bought last spring.
  Swag For Life Member 11:30am
WR:

interesting playlist Jan, the mix of styles. My mistake to not tune in earlier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am

my 12 year old macbook pro is still serving me well (after multiple rounds of upgrades, surgeries, replacements, patches and hacks)

something faster would be nice, but i don't really need it

i don't have as many options with The Phone... so apps get outmoded more frequently there (but i hate The Phone)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am

Pop Corn Snacks ftw!
  Swag For Life Member 11:34am
WR:

Ha, me being me, I didn't look at the episode title until after noticing the cherry apple orange etc prevalence in the song titles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am
David (in London):

Hey there WR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am
fred:

I work on many platforms. The 10+ year old linux/windows machines are annoyingly slow by now, but the little budget there is gets soaked up by Apple bricking their very expensive hardware every 3 years or so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am
Feldpausch:

@David Cool! There's something magical about making mix tapes, waiting for your song with your hands on the record and pause button
  Swag For Life Member 11:36am
WR:

Hi David (i L), spodi, Feld.

Popcorn as a fruit? No complaints here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
fred:

Jan, you should get Stashu as a co-host (or the other way around) and do a polka show next marathon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
Jan Turkenburg:

Hence the "i don't care"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am

@WR: Isn't tomato the NJ state vegetable?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Feldpausch:

I've been having hard drive scares left and right, even with brand new ones... that moment when you realize everything could easily be gone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Jan Turkenburg:

a propos, remind me to do a tomato special on Frame Duggy Louder soon.
  Swag For Life Member 11:41am
WR:

Don't know Fred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Feldpausch:

Hi WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am
spodiodi:

looks like NJ has no official state vegetable, but it should be the tomato. New Jersey has the best tomatoes i've ever had... and i've been spreading that word everywhere i've gone my entire life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
Feldpausch:

My friend just showed me his Victrola. It's the tall cabinet style, perfect condition, plays like new, and it's like watching magic happen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am

I got that from a WFMU map that glows in the dark. Unimpeachable source
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am
