Thanks. I have a 91 yr old mother rushed to the hospital Sunday night with a heartbeat of about 160 and fluid in her lungs; a six month project that is supposed to end today not ending today because someone on my staff decided the end date seemed arbitrary and didn't complete his work; and a 93 page document that is due Friday disappeared off the face of the earth with a "File corrupt - backup not retrievable" message or something to that effect. Other than that, everything's great.
Okay, got that off my chest, no fussin, no whinin' no back-talkin'!

Handy, yeah, I'll bet you could.
Got a destination in mind?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Bas, Julie.

We're going to Michigan. Where we were wont to go yearly to see my aunt and her wife and my uncle and go out to the old farm for a few days of canoeing and being *less* on grid, at least. Last year was the first time since I was fifteen that I didn't visit my aunt. And I'm old! But she's 95, so no chances taken.
Avatar 🦇 3:26pm
Julie:

oh that sounds nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm

Peter you're recycling that riff.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Bas NL:

Is he still around or.. Völlig losgelöst von der Erde?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Handy Haversack:

Where the farm is, it is *seriously* rural. Closest town is six miles off and population 500. About 20,000 in the county. One traffic light. Though there's one "resort-y" town on the lake that fills up in the summer with Chicagoans and wealthyish people from other parts of MI. That's where we go to the beach and use wifi.

And Very glad you are getting past the illness.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:41pm

WR, well, I didn't see anything that specifically said which variant we had, but it was COVID, that's for sure. Both of us vaxxed since April. I assume Delta just because we both had sinusy symptoms. Fatigue. I had a fever Mon.-Sat. Annoying cough. Bad sinus symptoms. Never terrifying, more annoying and depressing.

A friend once came to one of our karaoke marathons for the first time. She stood up and *nailed* "Wuthering Heights." She sat back down, and K8 looked knowingly her way.

"Sophie?"

"Choir nerd?"
"You know it, Kate."
"Choir nerds forever, Sophie."
